Summary:

The Security Operations (SecOps) Associate is central to the efficient operation of the Security Team at ZipRecruiter.  As part of Technology Operations (TechOps), this role will be responsible for managing the team’s operational tasks.  Core functions of this role will include managing recurring processes such as vendor and software reviews, audits, compliance tasks, employee training, and policy updates.

A strong candidate for the Security Operations Associate role will be an excellent communicator.  Employee training is a growing component of the SecOps team, and this role will coordinate with our People Development team to plan, develop, and launch company-wide training sessions and craft appropriate messaging.  Communication in this role can be external-facing as well; SecOps frequently communicates with vendors to assess their security posture before we engage with them, and the Security Operations Associate will own this communication.

Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate with Security team leadership to develop and optimize Security Operations processes.


• Partner closely with Legal, Procurement, IT, and others to accomplish SecOps goals and to identify risks and opportunities.


• Design an approach to prioritization that is lightweight and repeatable.


• Track initiatives and projects using Jira and well-designed and maintained documentation. 


• Create and operate a Security training program


• Plan and manage employee awareness campaigns around Security topics


• Engage with vendors on security topics and collaborate closely with Procurement 


• Manage any Security-related compliance initiatives and security certification efforts


• Proactively set up meetings with purpose, coordinate brainstorm sessions, and share out project information over Slack and email.


• Use good judgment to escalate risks and concerns to the leadership level.

Qualifications: 

• 3+ years of hands-on, operational team experience


• Comfortable in a scaling and rapidly changing environment


• Strong ability to manage multiple projects and context switch


• Excellent time management skills


• Professional, high-quality writing skills


• Demonstrated attention to detail in all aspects of your work


• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience


• Strong proficiency in G-Suite tools (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar)


• Strong Slack user


• JIRA or other ticketing system knowledge


• Familiarity with corporate compliance is a plus


• Familiarity with Security terminology and concepts is a plus
