ABOUT THE JOB


The ACLU seeks a full-time position of Junior Information Security Analyst in the Information Technology Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY.


The Information Technology (IT) department provides technology-based services and support for a more than 550-person National staff at our New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco, the Dakotas, Puerto Rico and Durham offices, including staff based in remote locations. ACLU IT support staff ensures that business critical services are available to all staff.


Reporting to the Information Security Architect, the Junior Information Security Analyst will be responsible for implementing and managing the day to day operation of the organization’s information security program. The ISS plays a critical role in ensuring the ACLU’s technology and information assets are appropriately guarded from external and internal threats. The ISS will provide guidance and help make critical decisions about security risk assessment, solutions, and the organization’s ongoing evolution of its IT security program.


RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Work with ACLU management and staff, third party security consultants, and managed service providers to assess risks, establish priorities, conduct reviews, and implement solutions

  • Work alongside the Information Security Architect on day-to-day tasks in managing the information security posture of the organization

  • Design, implement, and operate information security best practices and procedure

  • Develop and manage security and process documentation.

  • Ensure that required security control initiatives are executed on schedule and in line with the ACLU's Information Security program objectives

  • Develop and manage metrics and reporting designed to measure Information Security program effectiveness and ensure compliance with ACLU policies, compliance regulations, and industry best practices alongside the Information Security Architect and CIO

  • Partner with training staff to develop and continually iterate on security awareness training curriculum

  • Monitor external threat environment to ensure ACLU is responsive to near and far term threats

  • Respond to and resolve cyber security threats that may impact the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of ACLU systems and affect constituents or personnel

  • Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned

  • Center principles of equity, inclusion, and belonging in all work, embedding the values in program development, policy application, and organizational practices and processes

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of technology processes, risks, infrastructure, and information security

  • Experience designing and operating enterprise security controls

  • Experience with incident response and handling

  • Experience with both windows based enterprise infrastructure and cloud applications and environments

  • Knowledge of web security best practices, including certificate management, encryption protocols, and common vulnerabilities

  • Expertise with security assessment methodology and vulnerability management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to articulate complex issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders across departments and affiliated organizations

  • Excellent problem solving and strong project management skills

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in IT security operations in an enterprise environment, preferred 


COMPENSATION


The annual salary for this position is $96,711 (Level H). This salary is reflective of a position based in New York, NY. This salary will be subject to a locality adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting. Note that most of the salaries listed on our job postings reflect New York, NY salaries, where our National offices are headquartered.
