Due to Built’s continued growth and development, we are adding a VP of Information Security to join our senior leadership team. This leader will serve as the company’s security officer and will partner to build a culture of security that is rooted in the company’s values and mission.  This position will be directly responsible for the overall security function and program at Built and will report to the COO. 

The ideal candidate is a seasoned information security and risk management executive who understands the challenges of a FinTech company and desires to apply their knowledge to develop the security strategy, people, processes, and technology that will allow Built to continue its successful growth. This candidate has a strong conceptual technical understanding of software development, development operations, and internal IT infrastructure for the purpose of driving security initiatives cross-departmentally.  Additionally, this candidate has a broad understanding of technical concepts applicable to SaaS and PaaS business types and has the ability to communicate technical security concepts and best practices in business terms to senior leadership as part of their participation in risk-based business decisions and beyond. This leader will be a critical member of the Senior Leadership Tea and serve as a strategic, thought-partner in achieving / delivering against Built’s mission and long-term business strategy. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the overall security and risk management programs for the company. 
  • Serve as a key business strategist, working with Senior Leaders to create and deliver a COE for holistic business security operations
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership to integrate business strategy and industry best practices to ensure optimal security risk posture.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of the threat landscape applicable to Built as a company, its product types, and the FinTech sector. 
  • Serve as an escalation point between security and other departments to remove blockers and influence security-minded decision-making.  
  • Maintain a data-driven security risk program leveraging key industry benchmarks to continuously mature the security program and posture.
  • Partner with Built’s Compliance leadership in their management of security-related pre and post-sale third-party due diligence activities.
  • Partner with Built’s Compliance and Finance leadership in their management of annual SOC 1 & 2 Type II audit engagements.
  • Ensure that company security policies and procedures are aligned with applicable industry standards to support a holistic company security posture and business goals.
  • Educate senior leadership, management and team members regarding the information security program and its mission to secure company and customer resources in support of business goals.
  • Partner with applicable teams to ensure alignment with security best practices for both on-prem and cloud infrastructure networks.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing initiatives as applicable to information security.

  • Skills and Specifications:
  • Deep working knowledge of Information Security and risk management standards, frameworks and practices with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar executive InfoSec leadership role
  • “Leader of leaders” with the ability to lead, train, mentor and set the vision & strategy for a team of security practitioners while serving as a key partner to senior and executive leaders of the organization
  • Operation-minded with a strong ability to plan, communicate and execute while maintaining the ability to be hands-on in Built’s hyper-growth stage
  • Vast & broad understanding of technical concepts applicable to cloud-first SaaS and PaaS business types
  • Detailed knowledge of ISO 27001,  NIST-CSF, CIS Top 18, and OWASP frameworks and how each applies to a FinTech company operating in various global regions
  • Fintech experience is a plus

  • Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; Degree(s) should be relevant to the position type.
  • Enterprise PaaS or SaaS experience required
  • CISSP or relevant professional security-related certifications are preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence all levels of management, build relationships quickly, understand the business and assist business leaders in reaching their strategic goals. 
  • Analytical skills, presentation skills, strong creative and conceptual thinking skills. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
