Listing Description

Panum is seeking an experienced and energetic Sr. Security Controls Assessor to service an existing contract with our USDA client. This will be a remote position and the ideal candidate will have prior experience working with or for the federal government.

The Sr. Security Controls Assessor will assist with task objectives, which are outlined below. Ability to communicate well and clearly express complicated technical matters is a must.

A Medium Risk Public Trust clearance will be required prior to starting work

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Independently perform all aspects of the security controls assessment from kickoff to submission of all assessment deliverables
  • Coordinate all aspects of testing with relevant stakeholders and team lead
  • Develop a security assessment plan with input from stakeholders
  • Develop and tailor evidence request lists
  • Conduct and lead assessment interviews and tests
  • Coordinate with team lead and client management to develop and maintain a project plan
  • Ensure all required deliverables are completed according to schedule and at a high quality with the understanding that deliverables will undergo independent review by client
  • Provide insightful recommendations to client to improve security posture

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience performing assessments as the primary assessor on general support systems
  • Proficient understanding of the NIST RMF process and the NIST security control set (especially technical controls)
  • Experience performing assessments at the USDA using Cyber Security Assessment and Management (CSAM)
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Able to appropriately articulate security concepts and requirements to different audiences
  • Strong task management skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel to effectively manage and manipulate large spreadsheets
  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills – Able to gather and analyze information
  • Proactive – Able to influence others and contribute to team success
  • Analytical Thinker – Can synthesizes complex or diverse information
  • Excellent Communicator – Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced ‘User’ of Microsoft Office Suites (emphasis on Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong Quality Management Skills – Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must have or be able to obtain Medium Risk Public Trust clearance
  • Certifications: CISSP, CISA, or equivalent highly preferred
  • At least 5 years of performing FISMA assessments is highly preferred
