Listing Description

The Data Scientist is expected to have previous experience working with large dynamic data sets, developing and architecting cyber security related data models, and have a good understanding of the cyber security threat landscape and how threat adversaries operate, i.e. adversary reconnaissance, phishing attacks, how malware operates, exploitation, lateral movement and data exfiltration.

The successful candidate will possess strong data science, analytic and programming skills, good foundational knowledge in cyber security threats, good communication skills, creative, work both independently and as part of team and in some situations work under pressure to detect imminent threats. Additionally, all candidates considered must have experience in applying data science to solve cyber security related problems.

- Analyze security logs to identify information and features that can be used in correlation and threat detection

- Develop use cases using advanced analytic techniques that help detect threats and generate insight for our cybersecurity operations

- Work in high pressure situations and within a team environment.

- Provide creative and innovative solutions and serve as a thought leader

- Develop proof of concept hunting and/or detection workflows

- Automation of hunting and/or detection

- Helping other develop data science solutions to automate or simply decision making

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or related technical field

- 3+ years of experience working with supervised and unsupervised machine learning

- 3+ years performing anomaly detection

- 3+ years programming in Python

- 3+ years working with data visualization and ability to communicate findings

- Experience in data wrangling/curating

- Statistics

- Demonstrated ability to use scripting skills to automate routine tasks

- Experience working in a Linux environment preferred

- Strong technical troubleshooting/problem solving skills

- Advance Splunk knowledge (implementing data science models within Splunk)
