Listing Description

We are looking for a product manager (or experienced engineer/consultant with relevant domain expertise) to guide the evolution of our security and observability capabilities for the Redpanda streaming data platform. Reporting to the Head of Core Product, you will work with customers and study the market to gather data, drive the strategic roadmap for Redpanda’s core security and monitoring capabilities, and guide their inclusion into our self-hosted and SaaS cloud offerings. You will also help drive the technological vision in these areas, following the latest trends and advising the team on new technologies, standards, approaches, and potential partners in order to stay on the leading edge.

This is an opportunity to work closely with product and engineering leadership and teams at a fast-growing, well-funded startup. This role requires deep comfort with enterprise infrastructure technology, working closely with customers, and collaborating cross-functionally across technical and non-technical teams.

You Will

• Meet with customers, analyze the competitive landscape, and identify market opportunities to shape our company's product strategy in the areas of security and observability/monitoring


• Define requirements for new features and prioritize them in the product roadmap


• Communicate new features internally and externally and help articulate the value proposition, messaging, and pricing


• Collaborate with multiple internal teams (including Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success) to ensure we ship the right features, at the right time, with the right user experience.


• Own delivery of features end-to-end, picking up tasks wherever needed, reviewing documentation, and defining the analytics required to measure success after rollout

You Have

• 2+ years of experience in product management for enterprise software platforms. Alternatively, 5+ years of experience in a security-focused engineering, consulting or other software development role  


• Experience working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to to concisely explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences (and vice-versa)


• Work with a 100% distributed / remote team, collaborating in GitHub, Slack, Google docs and other modern productivity tools independently and efficiently, in the open


• Comfortable switching context frequently to address customer, engineering, and go-to-market issues and requests


• Experience working closely with highly technical products and customers

• Shipped enterprise-grade feature sets for infrastructure/platform products (especially distributed systems)


•  Delivered enterprise security features, including any of the following:




• Authentication (including single sign-on), supporting various Authn protocols and IdPs


• Access control ( RBAC design: functional vs ACLs, cloud IAM,  authZ best practices)


• Encryption (at rest and in-transit, key management via KMS, cloud provider encryption)


• Auditing & data governance (lineage, metadata cataloging, 3rd party integration, etc.)




• Implemented large scale deployment of enterprise security solutions as an engineer, consultant, or end user


• Shipped (as a PM) or implemented (in an engineering/consulting role) observability/monitoring solutions and working with technologies in the observability ecosystem integrations (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog, etc.)
