The Global Affairs and Partnerships (GAP) team at Search for Common Ground (Search) is seeking an intern for Fall 2022 to provide research and administrative support to a global project focused on women, peace and security (WPS) and addressing gender-based violence (GBV), implemented across five countries (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uzbekistan, and Yemen). The project provides specific funding and technical assistance to local women-led groups to grow and sustain local capacities for peacebuilding.

The Women, Peace, and Security Intern plays a critical role in program management and implementation of the global project through desk research and supporting the implementation across the five target countries as described below.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research related to US government and multilateral policies, legislation, and priorities on Women Peace and Security.
  • Assist with the regular updating of the project's gender analysis for the five target countries.
  • Monitoring and updating essential country-specific data.
  • Attend briefings, roundtables, hearings, and other relevant events and share notes within the organization;
  • Assist with drafting social media and promotional content for the global project.
  • Provide overall logistical and technical support for the global project.

  • Qualifications
  • Current student or recent graduate with a degree in International Relations, Conflict Studies, Development or a related area;
  • Written and spoken fluency in English;
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet Search Engines)

  • The ideal candidate will further exhibit:
  • A self-starting, enthusiastic, and flexible approach to the organization and the position;
  • Experience in foreign policy and peacebuilding;
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in WPS, US government  policy and/or advocacy;
  • Demonstrable interest in creating partnerships with other organizations, policymakers, and donors to advance conflict prevention;
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail; and
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in an additional language is not required but will be viewed favorably.
  • Salary: This is an unpaid internship.
