The Director of Security Engineering is responsible for designing, building, and operating the security engineering functions that protect our products and our cloud infrastructure across all divisions of Updater. As a senior leader of the security team, this role will be partnering with engineering and product leadership to ensure security is integrated into how we build, deploy, and operate our products.  

About the Role

• Be a trusted partner and advisor to engineering leadership to ensure that our products are built with “security by design”.


• Be a trusted partner and advisor to DevOps leadership to ensure the security guardrails are integrated into the CI/CD pipelines and that our cloud infrastructure is designed for resiliency, scale, and security.


• Peer with the Director of Risk and Compliance to ensure that the technical compliance requirements are met for each division


• Peer with the Business Information Security Officer to ensure that the security function is tailored to what the division needs so it can achieve its objectives


• Drive strategy for the Security Engineering function, aligned with broader Updater business initiatives, with a specific focus on application security, cloud security, and detection & response


• Drive efforts to improve security awareness in the areas of application security and the secure development of code through education and training.


• Champion technical efforts to obtain and maintain compliance with customer, regulatory, and security compliance framework requirements across Updater


• Operate a security champions program that spans multiple divisions


• Secure the product and the company with innovative and industry-leading technical security controls and practices


• Own the relationship with our security partners to ensure an effective detection & response capability


• Be the primary point of contact for security events that are escalated by our security partners.


• Partner with the CISO in planning and development of security strategy and roadmap

• Communication & Collaboration - Clearly and concisely communicate complex security ideas and translate technical concepts in a way your peers and stakeholders can understand.


• Strong strategic thinking - This role will align with engineering functions from each division on the technical security strategy
