Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

The opportunity


As the technical focal for Aircraft Software Cybersecurity you will report to the Software Quality Assurance Manager, and will define, implement, and execute the process for protection of on-board aircraft software from cyber threats to our first certified aircraft. You will collaborate on the Aircraft Cybersecurity process and interface with all areas of vehicle software development as well as interfacing with our operations and business systems Cybersecurity department.


This is an aircraft software development position, not a business systems or IT position.


What you’ll do



  • Collaborate on the definition and management of our Aircraft Software Cybersecurity process for requirement setting, architecture definition, implementation oversight, verification, and certification with the FAA and Aircraft Cybersecurity Lead

  • Interface with all aircraft software technical leads to assist in architecting and implementing a vehicle-level Cybersecurity solution

  • Work with the Certification department and the Aircraft Cybersecurity Lead to establish and obtain FAA approval for Archer’s Aircraft Software Cybersecurity approach

  • Work with our Aircraft Cybersecurity Lead to integrate our Aircraft Software Cybersecurity architecture with Archer’s operations systems

  • Effectively communicate with leadership and the rest of the team in real-time to enable “right the first time” decisions

  • Participate in civil aviation industry Cybersecurity working groups representing Archer’s interests and keeping the company informed on the evolving best practices and threat environment

What you must have



  • Bachelors in Engineering or other STEM field

  • Minimum 6 years experience in aerospace software development

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in aerospace cyber security

  • Experience with 326A, 355A or 356A  

  • Experience with Polarian

  • Experience with Matlab and C++

  • Experience with DO-178C or 254


Nice to have



  • Familiarity with aircraft or rotorcraft certification standards (14 CFR Part 23, 25, 27, 29)

  • Familiarity with civil aviation Software Engineering practices

  • Experience working in a formal Software Development based environment
