About the Opportunity

As a Director, Global Security Operations you will lead the strategic development and direction of key security support functions at WeWork. This role will proactively establish targeted programs/processes to address emerging security and business risks. This leader will effectively manage a team of security professionals poised to identify vulnerabilities, understand the threat landscape, and provide innovative solutions to mitigate risk to people, assets, operations, and brand. 

The Director, a critical support role, will report to the Global Head of Security & Resilience and will communicate, collaborate and advise cross-functional stakeholders on solutions, resources, and approach towards crisis preparedness and response, business continuity, physical security programs, emergency management training and initiatives. It will be imperative that this leader has sound judgment and decisiveness on internal and external  security issues. 

The Director will provide meaningful professional development and mentoring to those reporting to this position. The role will contribute and support the WeWorks Global Security & Resilience (GSR) department.

Core Duties:

  • Work with the GSR team to constantly improve the company's security culture, practices, and effectiveness. Contribute to the development of WeWork global security strategy, policies, and the sharing of best practices across the WeWork Security network.

  • Build, lead and develop best in class Global Security Operations team focused on agility and operations at a global level.

  • Manage security and crisis issues in a way that is professional, secure, and responsible Standardize and create synergies in security management, specifically emergency management across the  enterprise.

  • Ensure the security of employees, members and enterprise clients globally by building and managing a scalable security infrastructure.

  • Oversee the structure, development, and maintenance of the WeWork Crisis Management Teams, and business continuity (resiliency) programs.

  • Inform Senior Leaders  of evolving and immediate threats, identified vulnerabilities, risk mitigation plans and response.

  • Continuously assess and improve program effectiveness, priorities, and value to WeWork and the Global Security & Resilience department.

  • Develop and oversee training to support new policies and procedures globally, and deploy innovative education delivery methods globally.

  • Develop and maintain cohesive working relationships with internal and external partners to ensure consistency in program development and deployment.

  • Oversee management of the Emergency Management, Business Continuity (Resiliency), training and initiatives budgets

  • Facilitate relationships between Regional Security Teams, Regional Security Officers at U.S. Embassies worldwide, and foreign law enforcement and other related government agencies.

  • Maintain and build relationships with federal, state, local, and international law enforcement and U.S. intelligence community agencies, plus peer senior security professionals.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with relevant stakeholders in other global Headquarters and pertinent Regional departments.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 12 years of management and corporate security experience with significant law enforcement, intelligence, or public or a private security organization.

  • Experience managing security in a large global organization.

  • Experience managing large to medium-sized teams across multiple countries and time zones.

  • Strategic thinking with a firm understanding of the balance between business, security, and safety risks.

  • Leadership skills and the ability to think strategically and possess a broader view.

  • Remains flexible and responsive to changing conditions.

  • Well versed in each of the major areas of security, including emergency management, executive protection security, travel security, physical security, event security, technical security and business continuity (Resiliency) with a focus on operational continuity.

  • Ability to remain calm in a crisis and to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills as well as advanced analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build good relationships.
