ROLE MISSION
15Five is looking for a Director, Information Security who is eager to shape the overall strategy and scale our security operations and drive process improvements. Reporting to the SVP of Engineering, you will lead our information security efforts. This includes securing the cloud infrastructure and SaaS applications that host the 15Five product as well as the internal security operations and business systems of a growth phase company with 300+ employees. 

We are in growth mode and this is a new role and the evolution of our information security journey. We are looking for someone with the technical skills and business acumen to build and lead our information security team. This role will utilize strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and communication skills to drive complex cross-functional initiatives from problem definition to tactical execution.

OUTCOMES
  • Drive information security vision, strategy, and roadmap by proactively identifying good security policy and practice
  • Ensure that the entire organization learns and lives 15Five’s information security policies
  • Drive compliance through evangelizing, partnership, and education, as well as a robust program of third party/vendor reviews, incident response preparedness, threat modeling and risk posture, proactive assessment, auditing, and governance of data protection, data leakage, least privilege, and data privacy controls
  • Collaborate with IT and Engineering on vulnerability scan & penetration tests, ensure that the vulnerabilities are well tracked and remediated on time
  • Serves as the main focal point for 15Five’s Senior Leadership Team on Security related items
  • Work with the SVP of Engineering, COO, and CFO to shape and define management operations priorities and lead execution plans
  • Ensure there is cross-functional alignment of goals and execution, and help drive strategic initiatives forward
  • Work with Sales, Customer Success, and customers when needed to ensure we are learning our competitive gaps and communicating our security posture and practices effectively
  • Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate associated projects ensuring they are completed on time and drive business impact as defined
  • Partner with Finance, Engineering, and Operations to create a shared understanding of our security posture and potential gaps and prioritize upcoming efforts

  • Breaks down complex problems into components and parts, assigns them and synthesizes answers. This includes identifying gaps and taking initiative to find solutions for those gaps
  • Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated track record of applying program management principles, practices, and techniques with a strong results orientation
  • Takes calculated risks to achieve desired results
  • Skilled at facilitating multi-functional projects in an efficient yet collaborative manner
  • Experience managing successful SOC2/ISO27000 compliance process, related internal compliance processes and measures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Broad exposure to general suite of technologies common in growth stage technology company – collaboration tools (Google/Microsoft suites of office products) and other technology offerings
  • Acts as an informed participant in department-level decisions, bringing new ideals and methodologies to the table
  • Negotiates and advocates for the team with cross-functional peers in a productive and professional way
  • Working with counterparts to effectively resolve cross-team challenges with little guidance from upper management
  • Proactively propose ideas to improve 15Five’s culture and support others’ ideas, rather than detract
  • Contribute to an inclusive and effective environment for collaboration
  • Ensure teammates and fellow employees feel a sense of belonging

  • DESIRED EXPERIENCE
  • 8+ years of experience in Security and significant experience in a leadership role
  • 4+ years leading and coaching teams in a similar area of focus
  • Demonstrated ability to get in the weeds to fully assess security needs strategically
  • Experience influencing senior level management by exercising a high degree of latitude, autonomy, and accountability in directing the activities of teams
  • Proven ability to work through roadblocks and find suitable solutions to complex problems
  • Proven ability to take ownership of your work and its associated outcomes
  • Led cross-functional teams to deliver on strategic initiatives
  • Experience managing people directly, a plus 
  • Comfortable running quantitative analysis in Excel or Python, a plus
  • Demonstrates strong first-principled thinking a plus
