Who we are:

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) Tech team is a diverse team that builds and delivers technology used by candidates and organizers in all 50 states and 3,413 counties across the United States to analyze data, organize campaigns, raise money, and get out the vote on election day! We hire product managers, engineers, researchers, designers, security practitioners, IT professionals, and data scientists to develop a rich technology ecosystem for progressives—building tools ourselves and partnering with other companies and organizations. The DNC Security Team is a collaborative environment where you will have the opportunity to learn about unique security challenges to address and manage.

The role: 

You will play an essential role in securing the DNC and helping State Parties and other ecosystem partners become more aware of security threats and risks. You will help manage programs such as; executive reporting, State Parties risk assessment, security messaging, risk communication, IT and security portfolio management. Externally, you will serve as a point of contact for third-party vendors, State Parties, and other ecosystem partners to find ways to strengthen security awareness and adoption across the ecosystem to meet DNC policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

You will:
  • Provide support and engage cross-functional teams to create and define secure internal processes.
  • Run new hire onboarding and other training events for DNC staff, delivering security awareness and adoption education.
  • Manage internal and external security-related communications.
  • Work with the executive leadership team to build, implement, and manage security programs, bolstering DNC security and risk strategy with the help of the Chief Security Officer (CSO).
  • Manage the portfolio of services the DNC IT & Security team oversees.
  • Work with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) to help lead State Parties assessments to define security, risk, and compliance requirements to develop mitigation plans.
  • Find creative ways to educate staff and ecosystem partners on security-related issues and get them to engage and interact, especially during election cycles.
  • Plan security programming and agendas for large DNC meetings.
  • Serve as a security point of contact for security-related issues.
  • Assist the CSO with executive reporting using various formats such as slides, documents, charts, graphs, or report exports from technical platforms.

  • What we are looking for:
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with risk assessment and management frameworks such as FAIR.
  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, CIS, ISO, and PCI.
  • A generalist with a broad range of security domain knowledge such as identity, security operations, application security, incident response, and physical security.
  • Experience with project coordination or project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

  • Nice to have but not required:
  • CompTIA Security+, CISA, CISM, or CISSP certification.
  • Political organization or campaign experience.
  • Salary: 
    The starting salary for the Security Program Manager position is $85,000 - $90,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is not eligible for overtime wages.
