A Security Officer at the Georgetown branch library provides a safe and secure environment for customers and staff; provides assistance to customers as they check-out and return materials; answers general library services inquiries on the telephone, email and in person; refers customers to proper department or service provider; monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees and customers to guard against theft and maintenance of the security of the facility; composes Incident and Accident reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences and notifies Police, EMS and/or Fire Departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.


The approximate work schedule is from 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. These hours are subject to change as needed for special events.

Requirements
  • A valid driver's license
  • Fork Lift Operator certification within six (6) months of date of employment
  • NARCAN use certification within six (6) months of date of employment
  • First Aid, CPR and AED training within six (6) months of date of employment
