Listing Description

The Vulnerability Management Engineer will ensure continuous vulnerability lifecycle management within the Everbridge environment including monitoring, collection, reporting, and assessment of impact for vulnerability-related data from vendors and internal sources. This candidate must form strong partnerships with technical teams and provide strategy and prioritization to control vulnerabilities in the environment in a timely and effective manner.

What You’ll Bring:
  • 8+ years of related experience in Engineering/IT Operations, Security Operations, Vulnerability Management, Risk Assessment and/or Incident Response in large enterprise environments
  • 6-7 years of hands-on Information Security experience within a Linux environment. 
  • Experience with vulnerability and patch assessment
  • Good understanding of Windows and Linux patching
  • Knowledge of vulnerability scoring systems (CVSS/CMSS)
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools
  • Conduct vulnerability scans, analyze reports, and validate potential findings
  • Track and provide metrics on vulnerabilities and remediation
  • Patch Linux systems (e.g. Ubuntu, Oracle Linux, RHEL, SuSE, Debian) within on-prem and cloud environments
  • Assist vulnerability management SME in one or more of the following areas: Microsoft platform (Server, workstation, applications), Open Systems platforms (Linux, UNIX, VM Ware ESX), Java, Web Applications, Java web app virtualization platforms, Networking, Databases (Mongo, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, IMS), and others.
  • Assist in the development of enterprise policy and technical standards with specific regard to vulnerability management and secure configuration.
  • Assist the vulnerability management SME to assess potential impact from vulnerabilities specific to the Everbridge environment, and determine and implement mitigating controls.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate measures to manage and remediate vulnerabilities and reduce potential impacts on information resources to a level acceptable to the senior management of the company.
  • Build strong partnerships with technical teams / other stakeholders to promote best practices for managing vulnerabilities in an agile manner and within cloud solutions.
  • Ability to fully understand business requirements and work with them to define appropriate solutions and security objectives while meeting the business need.
  • Be a champion for vulnerability management and information security including broadening awareness and use of the team’s services, education of security best practices, and integration with other business areas.
  • Support teammates regarding vulnerability assessment, communication/rapport with other divisions and various levels of leadership, technical expertise, and career development.
  • Develop and improve KPIs, metrics, and trending for vulnerability management functions.
  • Participate in new projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Essential Skills:
  • Familiar with industry-standard security best practices and vulnerability management processes including compliance reporting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of IT security best practices including operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux), end-user applications, and network security.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of networking concepts and devices (Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, etc)
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Information Security, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • Extensive knowledge of a broad range of technology and information security controls
  • A high level of governance knowledge and a deep understanding of various security technologies and controls.
  • Exceptional knowledge of vulnerability management methodologies and tools
  • Excellent analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, assess risks, and balance strategic and tactical security requirements with business pragmatism, risk appetite, and innovation.
  • A self-starter, with the ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to prioritize,re-schedule, and adapt to changes in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with people across different teams
  • Excellent organizational skills
