The Sr. Systems Administrator will assume an integral role in engineering solutions for our client in the Digital Crimes Unit at the Microsoft Cyber Crime Center in Redmond. The mission of this group is to work across the Microsoft organization analyzing data and using the latest investigative and information processing techniques to better protect Microsoft customers and Microsoft intellectual property.
This position will work closely with Business Owners, Developers, Systems Engineers and Operations teams to provide excellent support for the client’s analytics and reporting systems. The Sr. Systems Administrator role provides day-to-day hands on support to the organization’s network, servers, desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices and applications. This position interfaces directly with internal customers and various departments, troubleshooting user issues to resolution to support a crucial analytics environment. Other areas of responsibility are LAN support, break/fix, software/hardware upgrades, patch management, anti-virus management, image management, application installs, user support and training, etc.
This position will work closely with Planners, Systems Engineers, Test Engineers, Software Developers, and Operations support teams to provide excellent operations support for the client systems such as Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL.
The ideal candidate shall demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision, exhibit accountability and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and experience in working with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and non-engineering personnel.
Candidates for this role should demonstrate intermediate to advanced knowledge in several of the following areas:
• MS Cloud solutions (Azure)
• Program Management & Planning
• Firewalls; VPN
• Computer and network security: vulnerability scanning, anti-malware, intrusion detection & prevention
• Secure authentication; encryption; PKI
• Linux system administration
• IT automation; scripting
• Network/systems monitoring and analysis
• Software deployment; patch management
• Virtualization
• Software engineering support: defect tracking systems, revision control systems, code review tools, etc.
• Data center infrastructure (UPS, power, cooling)
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Windows systems and applications deployment, maintenance, and upgrades
• Networking/LAN Support including VPN
• Manage network shares and permissions
• Botnet takedowns
• Projects and immediate action to reduce tech fraud and improve customer security
• Windows OS & Windows application support
• Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, and Outlook support
• Troubleshooting servers (Windows) and network
• User support and training
• Perform hardware/software installs and upgrades
• Ensure systems security via patch/update management & security policies
• Maintain systems and procedures in conformity with US DoD requirements
• Printer setup/maintenance
• Export backup tapes & send off-site
• Work in a high security area
• Maintain documentation for both end-user consumption and internal IT tracking
• Take on focused projects to enhance network, systems, and procedures

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
• US citizenship or permanent residency due to export control restrictions
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field or IT related degree and/or combination of directly related work experience commensurate to 3-5 years’ experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
