POSITION SUMMARY:


Cybersecurity interns will be responsible for assisting the Chief Information Security Office (CISO) with functions related to the Secure Software Initiatives, Incident Management / SOC operations, 3rd party risk, Security Project management, as well as maintaining the enterprise-wide Information Security program.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Assist with security initiatives to address current and potential security risks while delivering key security requirements, metrics and adherence to security policies and procedures

  • Assist with initiatives such as Internet of Things, Secure Software, PoCs for new security solutions, security incident exercises and information security policy assessments 

  • Assist with maintaining the Chief Information Security Office internal sites and providing administrative and logistical assistance to ensure security related meetings run effectively 

  • Stay knowledgeable about current security technologies, news and events and how they impact the security policies and procedures 

  • Assist the Chief Information Security Office in preparation for Governance meetings, updating PowerPoint decks, documenting meeting minutes

  • Work closely with stakeholders to review and update documentation across different working programs within Chief Information Security Office 


EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:



  • Currently enrolled in a college/university as an Undergraduate or Graduate Student in pursuit of a degree in Management Information Systems, IT/Information Security, Cybersecurity, or equivalent

  • Verifiable course work completed in management information systems and or cybersecurity methodologies, practices and tools

  • Aptitude to translate technical information into easily understandable information for non-technical audiences

  • Propensity to learn how to work with distributed technical and operational teams, relationship building, negotiating skills and gaining experience-building rapport with diverse stakeholders

  • Willingness and ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment 

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal 

  • Outstanding organization skills, attention to detail a must 

  • Strong Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills (including use of pivot tables and V-lookups) required

  • Previous Internship experience preferred 

  • Interest in obtaining security certifications such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and / or Certified Information Systems Security Professional CISSP in the future

  • Must be local to the Jersey City area and commit to 20 hours per week during the school semester


PAY RANGE:


The pay range for this position is $16 – $22 hour. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on academic classification.
