Job Description

Mandiant is seeking a Senior Digital Forensics Examiner who will act as a technical evidence collection subject matter expert, and be participate in evidence intake, triage, and support of the day-to-day operations of the Forensic Lab. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and organizational skills as well as a desire to be a part of an innovative team striving to advance high-end professional services to the Mandiant Consulting team. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Act as the subject matter expert for technical evidence collection, applying industry-accepted practices in retrieving, recovering and preserving digital evidence from a variety of source, including mobile devices, workstations, servers, networks devices and cloud-based sources. 
  • Provide technical guidance to Digital Forensics Examiner colleagues as they perform evidence intake and management 
  • Create and maintain evidence documentation, including chain of custody forms and examiner notes 
  • Review day-to-day operational challenges to proactively recommend solutions 
  • Contribute to the team’s ongoing efforts to improve the organization’s digital forensic capabilities 
  • Interface with consultants regarding case investigation status 
  • Participate in regular internal audits of evidence, and equipment 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • 5+ years experience of digital forensics experience
  • A minimum of three years experience performing complex evidence collections from a variety of sources, including servers, storage, and network devices. 
  • A minimum of five years experience with chain of custody procedures, forensic lab best practices, and evidence handling. 
  • A minimum of five years experience successfully interfacing with clients (internal and external)  
  • A minimum of five years experience with tools used for incident response and digital forensics (e.g., Encase, X-Ways, Cellebrite, Axiom)  
  • A minimum of five years of digital forensic experience  

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated experience with forensic evidence best practices and evidence collection from Windows, Linux and MacOS sources. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of computer networking, network storage and data storage devices  
  • Demonstrated  understanding of applicable laws, standards and best practices in the context of digital forensics  
  • Proven experience managing multiple tasks and priorities independently and in a team environment  
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to present complex technical matters clearly and concisely 
  • Ability to provide occasional support after core hours
