Comp: $185-250k base + equity; depending upon experience

THE OPPORTUNITY

RentSpree is at the forefront of revolutionizing the residential rental industry. As we scale our global team and operations across Los Angeles and Bangkok, we’re a Head of Security Engineering to play a critical role in shaping and securing our technology landscape. This role requires a proactive and hands-on approach to managing our security program, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and integration across all engineering teams.

Reporting directly to the CTO, this position is an individual contributor role with the potential to lead a dedicated team in the future.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive security program that aligns with business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Identify and maintain vendor partnerships to augment and enhance RentSpree’s security posture.
  • Conduct risk assessments, security audits, and vulnerability tests to identify and mitigate potential threats.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of security architectures for new and existing systems.
  • Work closely with engineering leadership to integrate security practices into the software development lifecycle.
  • Provide expert guidance and leadership on security-related issues, emerging threats, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of security awareness and ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
  • Lead incident response efforts, including investigation and remediation of security breaches.
  • Stay abreast of the latest security technologies and trends to enhance our security posture continually.

    • SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
  • 8+ years of experience in software development with a focus on security engineering.
  • Strong technical expertise in security architecture, network security, and application security.
  • Proficiency in security tools and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint management, etc.
  • Excellent understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authN, authZ, and common security vulnerabilities.
  • Experience with cloud security. Experience with zero-trust environments.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards such as PCI, SOC 2, CCPA & GDPR, and others relevant to the industry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • This is a full-time remote position in the US, but you’ll be expected to travel occasionally to one or both offices (LA and Bangkok).
  • Ability to support evening hours (~4-8 pm PT) to coordinate effectively with teams in Thailand; Our ideal candidate is located on the US West Coast (PST)
