ABOUT US
The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) provides safe and secure European satellite navigation services, advances the commercialization of Galileo, the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS), and Copernicus data and services, engages in secure SATCOM (GOVSATCOM & IRIS2), and operates the Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) Front Desk. Through these projects, EUSPA enhances European autonomy in space technologies, fosters innovation and creativity, supports European transport net and agriculture, all while contributing to the economic growth and health of the European Union.
The current vacancy is for the Engineering Department which ensures the Agency’s technical leadership on all matters related to system infrastructure, service, and security engineering, and acts as the Engineering Centre of Competence. The Department is responsible for ensuring the robustness and security of the systems in operations, for developing the infrastructure of the EUSPA service facilities, for providing the operations and service requirements to new system developments, and for engineering new services and their receivers that ensure the wide usage of EU Space data. The Department interfaces other Agency’s departments, as well as the European Space Agency as design authority of EGNOS and Galileo, and with the industry in charge of the evolution of the systems in operation and of the service facilities.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO
We are looking to recruit a Cyber and Risk Security Engineer who will be entrusted, as a member of the Engineering department, with the following main tasks and responsibilities for the space components of the EU Space Programme (Galileo, EGNOS, GOVSATCOM, Copernicus, SST, etc.):
- Plan and execute the cybersecurity activities in coordination with the internal stakeholders (i.e. teams performing the Programme, Security Operations, and Security Accreditation activities) and integrated in an end-to-end system engineering lifecycle:
- Define cybersecurity requirements;
- Follow-up of architecture reviews;
- Perform Vulnerability management and gather threat intelligence;
- Carry out security risk assessment activities and treatment plans to mitigate identified risks in compliance with applicable regulations:
- Contribute to the definition of effective security baselines and architectures to mitigate identified risks in compliance with regulations, international standards and sector best practices;
- Assess the compliance with the baselines, collect evidence and in case of deviation, assess the security impact and organise the associated actions;
- Provide inputs to the security accreditation files related to the components of the EU Space Programme in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical data;
- Contribute to definition and implementation of frameworks/standards, methodologies, process, and procedures supporting cyber and risk activities ensuring a systematic, repeatable, and mature outcome;
- Contribute to contract management, including workplan definition and follow up;
- Liaise with other EUSPA departments as needed in relation to the tasks above and notably in the area of Administration and Operations, to ensure the execution of related corporate tasks, such as planning, reporting, administration, financial and budget management.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- University degree in a relevant field;
- Experience in one or several of the following fields in relation to cybersecurity activities (security baseline definition, security architecture review, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing organisation, security monitoring, security risk assessment/treatment);
- Good knowledge of Information security standards and frameworks (MAGERIT, EBIOS, HMG, NIST, MITRE, ISO 27xxx, etc.);
- Experience in handling classified information, COMSEC material, and classified systems;
- Experience in financial, procurement, and contract management;
- Experience in industrial complex systems, governmental systems or space programmes is considered as an asset;
- Possessing relevant security certifications (e.g. CISSP, GIAC, ISO, etc.) is considered an asset;
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English;
as well as
- Effective communication;
- Ability to deliver accurate work under pressure and tight deadlines, organise workload and prioritise tasks;
- Transversal collaboration and working in teams;
- Custumer focus and service orientation;
- Ability to produce concise reports from complex information.
