The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

Position Summary:









LA28 seeks an experienced professional to serve as Head of Cybersecurity.


As a member of the Chief Information Officer's leadership team, the Head of Cybersecurity has the opportunity to positively impact the information security necessary to deliver the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic games in Los Angeles. As a global event which will have the eyes of the world in 2028, LA28 faces a unique information security challenge.


Technology is a critical and strategic foundation for delivering the 2028 games. Everything from digital fan experience, operational execution to broadcast and results delivery relies on scalable, secure and fault-tolerant technology. With events taking place across the LA metro area in existing and temporary venues, the tech landscape will be complex and wide-ranging.


LA28 is currently a small startup and will grow to a multi-billion-dollar organization over the coming 6 years. The Head of Cybersecurity is accountable for the day-to-day cyber needs of the growing organization and ultimately the cybersecurity for the 2028 games. Cybersecurity is substantially delivered leveraging outsourced managed services which the Head of Cybersecurity will own in addition to building a small inhouse team.


Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the position is based in our Los Angeles offices.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Work with LA28 leaders across the organization to develop and implement appropriate cybersecurity capabilities to protect our people, assets and delivery of the games

  • Engage with our venues, vendors, and other games delivery partners to ensure they have the appropriate levels of cyber defenses

  • Collaborate with LA28 Head of Security (both office security and games security)

  • Collaborate with the IOC, IPC and USOPC cybersecurity teams

  • Engage and collaborate with relevant city, state and federal agencies

  • Own the relationship with LA28 outsourced cybersecurity providers

  • Partner across the organization to mature the company's business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response procedures.


Background & Requirements:



  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in information security

  • Successfully built a comprehensive cybersecurity program for a high-profile organization

  • Knows what’s good, and bad, about many national and international regulatory compliance frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001, 22301, NIST, PCI DSS, GDPR, and CCPA

  • Knows how to get-the-best from outsourced information security providers

  • Not afraid to roll-up-sleeves when needed

  • An outstanding collaborator, adept at working within a complex matrixed environment

  • Deep technical acumen to ensure LA28 adapts to the evolving threat landscape

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including to the board

  • Pragmatic with high energy and passion for excellence
