About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Senior CMDB Consultant with extensive experience in designing, implementing, and turning around CMDB programs, particularly within hospital environments. This role requires a seasoned professional who can operate independently, bring significant expertise, and deliver strategic and hands-on solutions to our clients. The engagement is a 90-day planning project that will require full attention at times, but could average around 20 hours per week. The consultant must be flexible to meet all customer demands, including attending all necessary meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- CMDB Program Design and Implementation:
- Lead the design and implementation of CMDB programs, ensuring they align with industry best practices and client-specific needs.
- Turn around underperforming CMDB programs by assessing current state, identifying gaps, and executing corrective strategies.
- Provide expert guidance on CMDB tool selection, architecture, data modeling, and process integration.
- Consulting and Client Engagement:
- Work closely with hospital IT departments to understand their unique needs and challenges, delivering tailored CMDB solutions.
- Operate with full autonomy, driving projects from inception to completion with minimal oversight.
- Leverage your consulting experience to identify and seize opportunities for additional engagements, contributing to business growth.
- Tool Expertise and Integration:
- Implement and integrate CMDB solutions across multiple tools, with hands-on experience in at least two different CMDB platforms (experience with three or more tools is strongly preferred).
- Ensure seamless integration with existing ITSM and ITOM tools, focusing on maximizing the CMDB’s value across the organization.
- Possess at least one ServiceNow certification, with a deep understanding of its capabilities and best practices.
- Cybersecurity and Risk Management:
- Apply your cybersecurity experience to ensure that the CMDB program supports and enhances the organization's security posture.
- Collaborate with security teams to incorporate security-related configuration items (CIs) and maintain compliance with relevant standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and implementing CMDB programs, including experience in turning around failing initiatives.
- Significant experience working within hospital environments, understanding the unique challenges and regulatory requirements.
- At least 3 years of experience in a consulting role, with a proven track record of delivering successful CMDB projects independently.
- Experience with at least two CMDB tools (ServiceNow, BMC Helix, Ivanti Neurons, etc.), with preference for candidates who have worked with three or more.
- Strong background in cybersecurity, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in ServiceNow, with at least one certification in ServiceNow CMDB, ITSM, or related areas.
- Extensive knowledge of CMDB design, data modeling, automated discovery, and dependency mapping.
- Strong understanding of ITIL practices, particularly in Configuration Management, Change Management, and Asset Management.

- GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
- ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer

- Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
