The Vulnerability Analyst will conduct vendor risk assessment, configuration and operational activities for our portfolio of clients. This individual will work within Optiv Security CDAS (Cyber Defense and Applied Security) department, providing remote vulnerability assessment scanning, communicating with our customers and partners, and generating reports from Vulnerability Scans, as part of our Managed Vulnerability Service (MVS).
How you'll make an impact:Conduct network and system Vulnerability Scans: utilize industry-leading Vulnerability Scan technology to Identify and prioritize all vulnerabilities in client environments and provide timely vulnerability assessment reports to key stakeholders. Create and curate scan configurations, scheduling and tagging / grouping structures. Support the creation of Vulnerability Scan reporting. Advise clients on Vulnerability Scanning results and prioritized remediation actions. Help ensure MVS is understood, provides value to customers, and is effective and sustainable as part of customer security programs. Assist with conducting Network and System Vulnerability assessments and documentation of corrective/remediation actions, identifying internal and external threats that could result in unauthorized disclosure, misuse, alteration, or destruction of customer’s information assets
Qualifications for success:Attention to detail, and ability to track multiple tasks to completion. Aptitude and interest in Vulnerability Scanning. Communication skills, for interacting with clients about issues and ongoing vulnerability management activities. Able to recognize and deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential information. Experience in a Windows or Unix/Linux environment and ablility to demonstrate knowledge of computer system and internet security issues, various security technologies (encryption, firewalls, and anti-virus products), system hardening practices, TCP/IP, vulnerability management concepts and tools. This will be a largely remote role, but ability to travel periodically up to 10% may be required for unique client circumstances.
Preferred:Will have an interest in and have knowledge of network and computer security issues; have excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills; interact effectively with system and network administrators, as well as nontechnical clients. Enthusiasm about Operational Information Security - eager to participate in process improvement conversations; to gather enough knowledge and awareness to be able to recommend and define effective vulnerability detection and remediation activities for a portfolio of clients. Aptitude and experience with spreadsheet functions and/or code expertise: Able to create and edit Excel functions, analyze boolean logic, and support maintenance of Powershell scripts used for our automation of tasks. Working knowledge of a programming language like Powershell, Python. 3 years education and experience. GCIH, CEH, CISSP, SEC+, or similar certifications
