Overview
The Senior Cloud Systems Administrator – BlueIntel will be a member of the Cyber Threat Intelligence team that will maintain the Cloud infrastructure and systems used by BlueIntel.
The BCBSA CTI or blueintel team has several superstars, and we're looking for one more. This position is for an intermediate technical role on the BCBS CTI team, comprised of crack analysts, developers, and researchers who support more than 30 BCBS plans and other entities nationwide. The right person will need to be highly competent in AWS/Linux system administration, familiar with common scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash), aware of current security industry trends and technologies, and culturally fit within the team’s core ethos. Other parts of the job include participating in operations, where you'll be immersed in hacker culture, offensive tactics, and hacking in general (the old school definition).
This role includes:
- Applying patches in a timely fashion to all systems and containers.
- Reviewing and analyzing all system and container logs.
- Monitoring the status of all systems and containers for problems, including possible adversary activity.
- Improving and maintaining the security posture of all systems and containers, including onboarding/offboarding of BlueIntel, Plan, and H-ISAC members.
- Installation and testing of new and updated applications.
- Monitoring and maintaining network security.
- Recommend and implement best practices for managing AWS resources.
Responsibilities

Qualifications
Required Basic Qualifications:
- 6 years experience of combined experience in Linux system administration and security and AWS administration
- Creating, updating, and securing AWS EC2 instances, network administration and security
- Minimum of 3 years scripting or programming experience in Ruby, Python, Shell/BASH scripting, or other languages
- Demonstrable experience with a variety of built-in and vendor system administration tools
- Candidates with excellent Linux administration and security skills will be considered and AWS training will be provided. A desire to learn AWS administration is a must
- High School Diploma
Preferred Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related degree
- 2 years experience in Windows system administration and operating system hardening
- Foreign language ability (any language)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or above
- Linux certifications
- Network+, CCNA or other networking certification
