Shift5 is seeking an experienced Facility Security Officer (FSO) to join our growing team. In this role you will be responsible for implementing an industrial security program and ensuring company and customer security requirements are met at our Rosslyn, VA facility. You will interface with all levels of Shift5 team members, government and DoD personnel, and other customers to ensure contract security compliance with National Industrial Security Operating Manual (NISPOM), DoD Manual 5205.07, Contract Security Classification Specification (DD254) and Program Classification guides. 


The ideal candidate is self-motivated and is capable of working independently with minimal direction. As Shift5's FSO, you will be required to conduct security self-inspections, apply risk mitigation methodologies, support security assessments, and implement security measures to meet requirements. You must possess the confidence to make critical security decisions concerning high value contracts and to implement security procedures that will prevent unauthorized access to company and government facilities and information.

In this role you will be expected to:



  • Administer day-to-day security programs (personnel processing, program reviews, document control system, DCSA audits & self-inspections, violation investigations & reports, receipt-dispatch-destruction-mail logs, visit certs, etc.)

  • Oversee a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF)

  • Manage DISS, NISS, and other applicable programs and databases.

  • Create and conduct initial security briefings, debriefs, indoctrinations, pre/post foreign travel briefings and annual refresher briefings

  • Develop and establish an effective security awareness, training and education program

  • Provide clear guidance to employees about Shift5 and SCIF security requirements

  • Create and recommend modifications to operations policies or procedures as appropriate

  • Interpret company and government security policies and apply them to Shift5 operations

  • Maintain and enforce a commitment to security - creating and delivering the highest value to our customers


We're looking for someone who is/has:



  • FSO certification with minimum 4-5 years of experience as a FSO

  • Thorough working knowledge of the NISPOM, other relevant DoD security guidance as well as the Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) standards

  • In depth understanding of Physical Security requirements to include collateral Closed Areas and ICD 705 to meet contractual needs

  • Ability to manage Special Access Programs (SAP)

  • Thorough understanding of security databases such as JPAS, eQIP, eFCL and ISFD

  • Knowledge of Access Control and Intrusion Detection Systems

  • Industrial Security Professional (ISP) Certification

  • Courier preparation procedures

  • Experience developing and implementing OPSEC plans

  • Experience conducting investigations

  • Resourceful in solving problems and capitalizing on opportunities

  • Relevant professional certifications/affiliations

  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
