THE CHALLENGE

While being a member of the Security Operations Team, you’ll be building a world-class security operations and incident response program. This requires extensive knowledge in security processes, SOC operations, and relevant technologies. You will be developing operational security requirements for incident response handling, run books, containment, insights and metrics, & threat modeling. You will establish the framework around security operations best practices that sets the foundation for the most complex and business critical areas at Eventbrite.


THE TEAM
The Security Team provides governance, operations, engineering, and technical support throughout the organization. The security team works closely with all departments to ensure security measures are operating effectively and that risk is being managed appropriately. We are responsible for data protection, product security, incident response, compliance, backoffice security, and business enablement. Our goal is to ensure security is operating at the highest levels while unlocking the business to move faster. 
 

THE ROLE
As part of the Security Operations Team, you will be building the processes and components needed to monitor for malicious activity and conduct incident response. You will have a strong cloud and technology background while defining security requirements with ease. In this position you will be working closely with security engineering, SRE, product and other engineering teams to ensure the highest level of security monitoring is being met. In addition, you will bring extensive experience with various security technologies and understand the importance of automation and scale. Lastly, in this role, you will be the first line of defense in protecting the organization and will constantly be evolving our threat models. As part of the broader security team, you will help inspire, mentor, and lead by example as we strive to make a positive impact on our customers and the business.


THE SKILL SET
  • You have 3+ years of experience working within a security operations center (SOC)
  • You have experience scripting in at least one popular programming language, such as Python, Java, Kotlin, Go, Rust, Ruby, etc
  • You have extensive cloud security experience in AWS
  • You have experience with: WAF’s, IPS’s, SIEM, SOAR, AV, endpoint, EDR, Guard Duty, Cloud Trail, CSPM, DLP, vulnerability testing, & remediation lifecycles, etc. 
  • You have experience in security engineering, system & network security, authentication, security protocols, cryptography & application security
  • Knowledge of vulnerability and exploit techniques, including remediation strategies
  • Strong understanding of security event types, structured and unstructured events / data
  • Strong understanding of SRE and DevOps tooling and other monitoring platforms
  • Experience with building threat models from: server logs, network and various security tools, Cloud Trail, VPC flow logs, threat feeds, anti-malware, vulnerability scanners, etc
  • You have a strong background in automating tasks
  • You have experience developing metrics and insights to help drive remediation
  • You have experience improving security / engineering standards, tooling, and processes
  • You enjoy mentoring and teaching colleagues at all levels, while also learning from them
  • Familiar with infrastructure provisioning tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, or others
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools like Jenkins or CircleCI
  • Ability to take initiative and produce results with great communication and collaboration skills - we put a lot of emphasis on being team players
