Role Summary

As a security company, Sophos has an internal Cybersecurity team that focuses on protecting Sophos’ own systems, its products, and its infrastructure.

This role is for an Associate Information Security Engineer to join our Cybersecurity “Blue team”.

The ideal candidate will have real-world experience in defensive security, digital forensics & incident response and be familiar with using big-data analytics to hunt for threats.
We’ll need you to help us keep on-premise and cloud infrastructure security. This will involve working with leading commercial and open-source tools as well as establishing and maintaining strong links to industry experts and world-class specialist consultants.
You’ll need to be highly motivated, have an innovative mindset and be able to clearly articulate complex technical security issues.

What You Will Do
  • Monitor, triage, and analyze security alerts generated from various sources such as SIEM to ensure timely response
  • Performing root cause analysis and participating in Incident response investigations 
  • Documenting and managing incident response reports
  • Perform endpoint forensics for windows, *nix, and Mac environments, including identification and gathering of key forensic artifacts.
  • Perform filtering and exclusions required to fine-tune the detection rules.
  • Engineer detections based on various log sources, sigma rules, and IOCs under the guidance of senior engineers. 
  • Document, review, and update SOC processes
  • Perform vulnerability scans, bug validation, and OSINT tasks.
  • Have and maintain knowledge of infosec industry trends. 

  • What You Will Bring
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in DFIR
  • Knowledge and understanding of Linux & Windows OS internals and logging.
  • Experience with the use case and SIEM content creation
  • Experience with SIEM solutions - Splunk, Kibana, Logstash, Sumo Logic or similar.
  • Cross-platform knowledge of Enterprise IT infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Networking, Operating Systems, Databases, etc).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic understanding of AWS and Azure Cloud technologies
  • Desirable
  • Understanding of SDLC and DevSecOps.
  • Experience working in a global environment.
  • Contributions to open-source security projects and/or publications.
  • Knowledge of Sophos products.
  • Hands-on experience of network, memory and host forensics.
  • Hands-on experience investigating & responding to enterprise security incidents.
