Job Profile Summary
Leader responsible for developing and maintaining the global enterprise information security technology strategy and baseline, managing and enforcing system development processes, and providing security engineering and consulting services across the enterprise. Manage staff resources providing guidance to functional and business units on appropriate security practices and solutions to comply with policy and standards while enabling the business. This role will manage collaboration with project teams, in order to define mitigating controls through the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). In addition, this position will also assist project teams with sourcing, product strategies, and technology research and evaluations. This role will also translate technical security vulnerabilities into business risk terminology. Finally, this position will support in the development of the security product strategy and roadmap for customer facing Security-as-a-Service solutions within Rackspace.

Careel Level Summary
  • This position is responsible for supervising other employees. This person should be able to execute their tasks with little to no supervision. They should be capable of organizing and delegating tasks as dictated by the current workload

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and manages resources for effective and efficient use of security technologies related to the protection of Rackspace systems and data.
  • Leads and directs the planning, development, and implementation of data and system security controls and practices.
  • Consults on security direction, maintaining a vigil over prudent assurance of the information and information systems assets.
  • Works on problems of significant scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Develops and delivers communications corporate-wide for the successful deployment of security controls.
  • Evaluates suspected security breaches and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyzes gaps between current and target security architecture and develops and implements roadmaps and plans to close gaps.
  • Directs, plans, and organizes activities of security professionals that provide information technology services throughout Rackspace.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on Cloud security issues and questions.

  • Knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; demonstrated ability to communicate highly technical concepts to non- technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding and experience with IT security technologies.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple teams in accomplishing process review and improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop metrics, perform critical analysis and develop executive decision support content.
  • Experience with a wide variety of information security processes and principles, such as: Enterprise security architecture, Threat model development, Vulnerability assessment, Risk analysis, Defense in depth, SDLC, Identity and access management, Networking concepts (routing, design, TCP/IP), ISO 27001/27002, NIST 800-53, Business process design, Web services security.

  • Education
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field. High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Certifications
  • CISM, GIAC or other vendor (Cisco, Microsoft, etc) certifications preferred

  • Experience
  • Minimum 5-8 years experience in a security or related IT function

  • Physical Demands
  • General office environment. Moderate levels of stress may occur at times. May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor. No special physical demands required. Schedule flexibility to include working a weekend day regularly and holidays as required by the business for 24/7 operations

  • Travel
  • Occasional travel, less than 10%
