Position Summary:
As a member of the Optiv Security Managed Security Services department, a MDR Data Engineer provides architectural and engineering experience to partner with customers and assist and facilitate the data ingestion process.
How you'll make an impact:Function as a seasoned resource who serves as a point of escalation for complex and critical client issues.Perform configuration and testing of products and assists with developing and documenting work processes and procedures.Train and mentor lower echelon technicians and engineers.Partner with DevOps to bring customer requirements for building data pipelines to automate batch and real-time data delivery through StreamSets’ streaming data platform to data lakes, warehouses, analytical and machine learning applicationsCustomer-facing role – Walk thru to whiteboarding of architecture and implementation planning to stakeholdersWork with pre-sales in data engineering from a technical consultative approach
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for troubleshooting and evaluation.Primary duties revolve around data ingestion.Work closely with the threat analysis team providing SME expertise and as an escalation point for the platform.Document actions in ticketing system to effectively communicate information to both internal resources and externally to customers.Respond in a timely manner (within published SLA) to configuration, maintenance, incident management, and other requests.Adhere to established policies, procedures, and security practices.Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems, using strong TCP/IP networking skills.Support, troubleshoot, configure, manage, and upgrade a wide variety of other security products.Create custom documentation for internal and client needs.Assist with designing and documenting work processes.Building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets utilizing tools like NiFi, StreamSets, etc.
Qualifications for success:Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school in Information Technology, Information Security/Assurance, Engineering or related field of study; at least two years of related experience and/or training (in addition to experience requirements below); or equivalent combination of education and experience required.Experience with the following technologies is highly desirable: Devo, Kibana, ElasticSearchExperience with Agile Practices like Scrum, ITIL and security industry best practicesKnowledge of deployment orchestration, automation, and security configuration management (Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible) preferredExperience working with cloud security and governance tools, cloud access security brokers (CASBs), and server virtualization technologiesWorking knowledge of common and industry standard cloud-native/cloud-friendly authentication mechanisms (OAuth, OpenID, etc)Strong technical and written presentation skillsAbility to work independently with minimal direction; self-starter/self-motivatedPractical knowledge and sufficient experience with TCP/IP networking.Sufficient familiarity with Linux, Windows, and other network operating systems.Minimum 5 years of experience in Information Security or Networking required. Minimum 5 years of related experience and/or training in a technology environment required.Additional vendor-specific certifications also preferred.
