Position Summary:


The Cybersecurity Engineer works closely with Pax8’s Information Technology team, Compliance Analysts and intermittently with all other departments to ensure effectiveness of security controls, identify and remediate risk, and resolve security-related issues.


Essential Responsibilities:



  • Drive forward our existing cloud security stack including maintenance of existing environment, developing new solutions architectures, and implementing them to reduce risk and enhance “secure operations” of Pax8

  • Collaborate to build the Pax8 cloud security stack, security automations, and set “secure by default” standards across our cloud environments

  • Consult and advise Pax8 teams to influence secure design, deployment, and maintenance of our cloud-based non-security applications and workloads

  • Develop and deliver knowledge base documentation, standard operating procedure, and training documentation

  • Mentor and coach more junior team members to improve their security skill sets by demonstrating advanced techniques in the areas of data network architecture, threat hunting, and general research

  • Research and maintain a current working knowledge of the evolving threat-scape, including new attack methodologies, threat vendors, and vulnerabilities


Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:



  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience in both Microsoft Azure and AWS environments

  • Experience with SIEM Tools and Logging, IDS/IPS, Linux/Windows Server and/or Container(s)

  • Firewalls and Strong Networking Knowledge

  • Demonstrated Programming and Automation knowledge

  • Reverse Engineering and Forensics experience

  • IT and Systems Architecture and Infrastructure Knowledge

  • Alert and Monitoring Management experience

  • Proficient comprehending, creating, and editing technical documentation such as Knowledge Base (KB) articles and architecture diagrams

  • Unimpeachable integrity, character, courage, and honesty

  • Engineering mindset to develop & troubleshoot issues with an empirical & methodical approach

  • Self-starter mentality that defaults to action and thinks creatively on how to overcome challenges

  • Effective communication skills to interface with both internal teams and external partners and vendors on complex issues and enthusiastic timelines

  • Comfortable with remote communications technologies such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom video conferencing

  • Ability to develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences

  • Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems

  • Ability to actively learning through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both successes and failures as learning fodder

  • Ability to gain the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity


Required Education & Certifications:



  • B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional or similar


Compensation:





  • Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $100,000 or more depending on experience
