Listing Description

Within Cognite the CISO engages horizontally and vertically across the organization to direct security and infrastructure practices, awareness, architecture, incident response, compliance and associated risk assessment and reporting.  In these tasks, in this role reporting to the Chief Product Officer, the CISO will partner with internal functions such as engineering, product, IT, customer support, services, and the EMT to guide measurable progress in mitigating security risk to Cognite.  

With Cognite customers and industry, the CISO engages in key sales engagements, strategic industry groups that support Cognite positioning, assess and from this engagement and consolidate and prioritizes features and service requirements from competitor positioning, industry specific regulatory requirements and through collecting Voice of the Customer.   In these externally focused tasks, the CISO must partner closely with sales, solutions architects, product management and marketing.   • Key Achievements Include:
  • Security and Infrastructure operations: Real-time analysis of immediate threats, and triage when risks are detected
  • Cyber risk and cyber intelligence: Keeping abreast of developing security threats, and helping the board understand potential security problems that might arise from acquisitions or other big business moves
  • Data loss and fraud prevention: Mitigating data and IP loss prevention internally 
  • Security architecture: Planning, buying, and rolling out security tooling, teams and processes to ensure that Cognite Data Fusion and our internal IT infrastructure is designed with the best security practices in mind
  • Identity and access management: Ensuring that only authorized people have access to restricted data and systems
  • Security Feature Product Management: Keeping ahead of security needs by consolidating and prioritizing features and service capabilities that keep Cognite Data Fusion in line with market expectations and mitigate market risk— for example, emergent regulatory requirements.  
  • Investigations and forensics: Determining what went wrong in a service outages or breach, dealing with those responsible if they're internal, and planning to avoid repeats of the same crisis
  • Governance: Making sure all of the above initiatives run smoothly, associated risks are captured and reported and where investments are required, creating economic business cases to justify related investment.  
  • Customer Engagement and Security/Infrastructure Positioning:  Engaging with existing and potential customers to support security/Infrastructure discussions and reviews.  Supporting Cognite’s evergreen positioning as a supplier of trust in mission-critical industries through engaging in industry forums (WEF Oil & Gas Cyber Resilience), customer facing security/infrastructure related materials to support sales and thought leadership to support Cognite positioning.

  • Key Success Metrics Include:
  • Incident Response: Mean Time to Enable Response
  • Secure Development Lifecycle: # of internal and external security assessments and security tools enabled 
  • Risk Posture: Ongoing collection and reporting of the number of open vulnerabilities on CDF and internal security/availability risks (data protection, identity management, resiliency, etc).  Reporting timeliness and accuracy as key metrics. 
  • Governance, Risk and Compliance: Supporting ISMS and QMS programs that enable Cognite’s efficient and scale successful certifications and customer audits.  Decreasing time to complete audits.
  • Sales Support and Cognite Positioning:  NPS from sales in relationship to security related support, # of visible engagements in key industry groups and # of marketing assets/white papers per year
