We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Security Engineer to join our dynamic security operations team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in computer science and technical skills, complemented by practical experience in DevOps and data analysis. This role is ideal for individuals eager to leverage their analytical skills to contribute to our security operations and protect organizational assets from cyber threats.

This is a hybrid role in Menlo Park, CA coming to the office Tuesdays and Thursdays with flexibility to come in more often as needed. We may also consider candidates in the Durham NC area.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing security incidents within the organization's IT infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with senior security engineers to identify, respond to, and mitigate security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Support the development and implementation of security tools that support the security operations function such as EDR, SIEM, SOAR, CTI and log aggregation systemsConduct daily monitoring activities using security tools and systems to identify potential security incidents.
  • Participate in incident response, recovery, and reporting efforts.
  • Assist in maintaining and optimizing security systems and tools including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, EDR, SIEM, SOAR, CTI and monitoring solutions.
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends and threats to ensure proactive defense strategies.

    • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in security operations, incident response, or a related cybersecurity field.
  • Experience as a DevOps, IT Systems, Monitoring, IaC/Automation, Data Analytics and Data Engineering, AI/ML.Strong technical skills in Go, Python, SQL, Powershell, and Bash.
  • Proficiency with development tools such as Git, Windows, Linux, Terraform, VMware, and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience in data analysis and infrastructure management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience in teaching and mentoring students.
  • Highly Desired Additional Skills:
  • Experience in data classification and related algorithms.
  • Experience in GenAI and LLMs. Chatbots

    • Expected full time annual base pay scale for this position is $131K-$164xK Total Base Pay Range. Actual base pay will consider skills, experience and location.

    Based on the role, colleagues may be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan tied to company and individual performance, or an incentive plan. We also offer a long-term incentive plan to align company and colleague success over time.
