Location
The Security Specialist is required to work 4 days per week on-site at the client offices located at Arlington, VA and provide on-site support. You must be legally authorized to work in the US.  Bixal does not provide visa sponsorship.  

What will you do?
Bixal is seeking a Security Specialist for an upcoming opportunity. The Security Specialist will be part of a team to support USAID M/CIO’s Information Assurance transformation into a mature and fully integrated and adaptive Enterprise Information Assurance program. As a Security Specialist, you will ensure agency-wide adoption and maintenance of effective security and privacy controls. You will be responsible for maintaining security policies and ensuring compliance with security objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and report organizational security posture trends and system security posture trends and apply security policies to meet security objectives of those systems. 
  • Assess adequate access controls, all configuration management (change configuration/release management) processes and the effectiveness of security controls. 
  • Develop procedures and test fail-over for system operations transfer to an alternate site based on system availability requirements. 
  • Ensure all systems security operations and maintenance activities are properly documented and updated as necessary and ensure cybersecurity-enabled products or other compensating security control technologies reduce identified risk to an acceptable level. 
  • Implement security measures with established procedures to ensure confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation resolves vulnerabilities.  
  • Mitigate/correct security risks and security deficiencies identified during security/certification testing.  
  • Provide cybersecurity recommendations and/or recommend risk acceptance to leadership based on significant threats and vulnerabilities. 
  • Plan and recommend security changes, modifications or adjustments based on exercise results or system environment.  
  • Properly document all systems security implementation, operations and maintenance activities and update as necessary. 
  • Verify/update security documentation and minimum-security requirements in applications and system security design features. 

  • Qualifications
  • Ability to work onsite 4 days per week during transition with opportunity to change frequency depending on team needs after transition.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience in systems security.  
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Strong attention to detail.  
  • Ability to undergo a background investigation by the U.S. Government and meet eligibility requirements for suitability (secret security clearance).
