The Role

The primary role of the Senior Tools and Automation Engineer is to develop tools and automation to package, build, configure, test and deploy web service code into multiple types of environments.

Your day-to-day

As a Senior Tools and Automation Engineer, you will work within a high functioning team to make the team even better. You will be working with developers to transform raw code and 3rd party tools into packages that can be installed into various environments and managed with tools like Puppet , Hiera, and Rundeck.

You’ll be part of daily team meetings to ensure that the work the developers produce moves as programmatically as possible from prototype through QA to production.

You’ll also be part of project teams that work to systematically update and audit our systems to ensure that they’’re running the operating systems, tools, services and configurations that are needed to support our products.

What you bring to the team

Solid user-level Linux skills (bash or other shell scripting, filesystem navigation, troubleshooting using top/lsof/ etc.)

Ability to script in Python, Perl, Ruby and/or other dynamic languages

Ability to create and maintain software packaging.

Experience with git/github, Jenkins/Hudson and/or other build and continuous integration systems.

Familiarity with SSH and centralized authentication/authorization.

Previous experience in automating build, test, and/or deployment processes

Highly desired:

previous infrastructure management experience with Puppet or Chef

previous experience creating tools / utilities with simple GUIs

familiarity with AWS and private cloud infrastructure

familiarity with Hadoop, Spark, ElasticSearch, Cassandra and/or other “big data” technologies
