Position Title: FLARE R&D Senior Manager

Location: Anywhere within the US

The Role:

You have the management and technical chops to drive one of the most technical teams in the industry? The FLARE Team is looking for you!

As a Research and Development leader working within FLARE, you will do the following:

Oversee the technical growth of exceptional researchers, malware analysts, and developers.

Ensure the smooth progress and timely delivery of innovative tools to aid other business lines and automate malware analysis. Project responsibilities include a custom out-of-OS sandbox and the flagship software system that connects the entire FireEye company to the FLARE team.

Support the rapid development of tools for binary code classification and clustering.

Enable the delivery of proof-of-concepts for future engineering technology for the FireEye products.

Coordinate the development of internal and public facing tools for malware analysis. Examples of such tools include: FLOSS, FLAREVM, FAKENET-NG.

This position can be located in any of our following office locations: Reston, VA; Albuquerque, NM; Dallas, TX; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Milpitas, CA; Los Angeles, CA; or remotely for well-qualified candidates.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of experienced malware analysts and researchers.

Guide the development of novel solutions to challenges facing incident responders, malware analysts, network defenders, and product developers.

Support the company’s research and development efforts.

Identify process and knowledge gaps, and fill them.

Present the current state and future plan to executives and/or highly technical experts

Prioritize malware research focus and activities, aligned with business requirements including (but not limited to):

End-Point threats targeting Windows, macOS, and Linux systems

Ensure detection efficacy and quality of FireEye products and contents

Demonstrate accountability for meeting and reporting milestones

Ability to organize and prioritize multiple complex tasks and projects

Ensure quality content development and engineering deliverables

Requirements:

Management Skills

Proven experience managing a highly technical team.

Ability to identify and solve company R&D challenges.

Ability to develop new technical material for professional training classes.

Public speaking and presentation skills.

Experience with project management and project releases

Ensure the technical quality of internal and external deliverables.

Coordination with other stakeholders (such as an internal Intelligence team.)

Provide rapid support to investigations in the field.

Ability to rapidly deliver innovative technology to the field.

Identification and management of technical debt

Technical Skills

Strong programming background in software engineering and rapid scripting.

Experience with build, source code management and continuous test/integration frameworks.

Experience with malware, sandbox technology, security concepts, and Microsoft Windows Internals

Understanding of network protocols and their binary contents as well as relevant detection and signatures

Machine learning and data science experience.

Additional Qualifications:

BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred
