Job Summary


This position is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data at Phoenix Contact.  The main function of the position is to analyze current security measures, determine their effectiveness, and suggest improvements to mitigate risk as it relates to endpoints.  The position holds responsibility for all client security, including Endpoint Detection & Response, Privilege Access Management, and encryption throughout the global organization. The Endpoint Security Engineer is responsible for implementing security measures for systems within the environment. The position will also be responsible for limited education initiatives for the employees throughout the organization.


This is a remote based role but selected candidate must be able to travel to Middletown, PA for occasional in-person meetings.


Key Responsibilities



  • Establish controls and recommend improvements for all IT systems in the Phoenix Contact footprint across the Americas.

  • Analyze and introduce countermeasures related to risks, threats, and vulnerabilities present on endpoints.

  • Monitor and analyze attempted efforts to compromise systems and protocols. Identify remediation mechanisms and escalate those tasks to the proper system administrative personnel. 

  • Ensure authorized access to systems by investigating logged security or authentication violations.

  • Monitor traffic across the network and report suspicious activity.

  • Take steps to remediate any malware, virus, Trojan, or zero-day activity across the Phoenix Contact network.

  • Manage enterprise encryption products for communications and clients.

  • Manage Privilege Access Management software for endpoints.

  • Recommend improvements to existing systems and security controls.

  • Develop security awareness training by providing ongoing educational programs and communication to all internal business partners, including quarterly lunch-and-learns, newsletters, etc., as required based on threats to endpoints.

  • Coordinate endpoint vulnerability patch management with various IT teams.

  • Provide status reports to management on a regular basis on the overall status of our security program as required.

  • Maintain a solid knowledge of current information security practices through company-provided training and research.

  • Participate in knowledge sharing with co-workers to advance our security awareness program.

  • Act as a consultant on all aspects of endpoint security.

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications



  • BS Degree or AS Degree in Management Information Systems/Information Security/Related Field

  • Professional Certifications - Security+ Certification or varying Privileged Access Management related certifications

  • Professional knowledge of Privilege Access Management platforms (PAM)

  • Professional knowledge of various EDR/XDR platforms

  • Professional knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems and virtualization/containerization technologies.

  • Awareness of Firewall technology and SIEM systems

  • Awareness of various client vulnerability scanning platforms

  • Awareness of Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Wireless products

  • Awareness of current IT security best practices

  • Possesses sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the Company

  • Ability to manage projects across technical and functional disciplines

  • Ability to manage and execute projects within an established schedule

  • Ability to self-educate and attend company-paid courses across a variety of IT security-related subjects

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and teamwork skills

  • Solid written and oral communication skills


Essential Job Functions



  • Must be able to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time (up to 4 hours)

  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time (2-4 hours at a time)

  • Must be able up to lift 50 pounds

  • Must be able to travel in vehicles (automobiles, trains & planes) for up to 10 hours

  • Comply with company dress code guidelines

  • Must be able to travel to foreign countries

  • Must be on-call 24x7 as required
