BACKGROUND
The Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC), was created by and for members and operates as a member-owned 501(c)(6), not-for-profit entity. FS-ISAC serves as an intelligence organization leading the financial services sector efforts to protect against and mitigate cyber threats and incidents against member financial firms.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Intelligence Officer (IO) for the Americas region provides management of the local intelligence team based in region. This includes analysts of varying functions to provide the products and services to FS-ISAC financial institution members throughout the region. The IO is a senior-level position with a high degree of visibility and interaction within the financial services sector. This is a full-time position based out of the Reston, VA headquarters office and reporting to the Global Head of Intelligence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Managing the intelligence team in the region with people management skills and producing intelligence products and services in coordination with the firm’s global strategy;
- Maintaining awareness on and expertise in the latest cyber risks and threats impacting the industry;
- Coordinating with external affiliates, government organizations and law enforcement in the region on threat and resilience issues;
- Developing in-depth knowledge of sector assets, activities and constituents to provide meaningful critical information support and develop best practices;
- Conducting multiple-source analysis on current and emerging threats using advanced research methods and analytical techniques for finished intelligence products in coordination with the firm’s intelligence strategy;
- Participating in training sessions to members/personnel, member meetings and working groups;
- Ability to operate in virtual and global team environments.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Intelligence Skills – Has extensive experience with the all aspects of the intelligence cycle, including identifying key collection sources, evaluating raw intelligence, conducting research, performing link analysis and preparing finished intelligence for different levels of stakeholders.
- Communication Skills – Has effective oral and written communications skills with the ability to compose finished intelligence reports and briefings in a timely, concise and accurate manner in accordance with intelligence analysis skills. Must be fluent in written and spoken English. Proficiency in Spanish highly desired.
- Critical Thinking Skills – Is able to approach information and data in an objective and rational manner, understand bias and possible relationships of importance, and apply methods of examination to construct a clear and informed judgement.
- Interpersonal Skills – Is able to engage with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds to build rapport and communicate effectively, especially with executive level leaders within the private and public sectors and with virtual teams.
- Organizational Skills – Possesses strong time and project management skills to remain consistently reliable across a large range of prioritizations and activities and maintain an effective intelligence team
- Professionalism – Is self-motivated, responsible and a team player.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s degree preferred
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
- 10-15 years’ work experience in the field of Intelligence, either in the public or private sectors
- Familiarity with cyber security technology and practices in different countries, as well as threats to these.
- Familiarity with the region’s national cyber security programs, supporting organizations, cyber crime and data protection laws, and law enforcement apparatus for combatting cyber crimes.
- Working knowledge of the region’s financial or merchant services community, including missions, strengths and weaknesses.
- Technology Applications and Platforms
- Familiar with standard office software platforms, including MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint, Word, etc. Use of major research and analysis tools.
- Security Clearance: Ability to hold a US TS/SCI level clearance highly desirable.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position reports into Reston, VA headquarters. Currently, due to COVID-19, position will require a work from home location, which must be in a home location and not in a public setting. When the Reston office opens post-pandemic, this position will be seated in that office. The candidate must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
