Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Director of Security. With excellent customer service skills to work in our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters. As an expert, the Director of Security provides vision and leadership resulting in the development, implementation and management of the organized, coordinated and integrated security, emergency management, general safety, fire protection, life safety, and internal and external investigative policies and procedures. Leadership will also be provided in building collaborative partnerships with private sector, local, state, regional, and federal stakeholders to share and coordinate information and activities. This role serves regularly in a highly visible capacity; experience, skills, demeanor, and ability to handle difficult and sometimes-stressful circumstances are a clear expectation.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent professional experience required; Master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Preferred BSIS approved guard card for the State of California required.
  • Five (5) years in a public safety, security and/or emergency management related field with one (1) year of program management experience preferred.
  • Five (5) years management experience required.
  • Experience with vendor management, conducting RFPS and the procurement process is preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred. 

  • About the position:
  • Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of security services and operations in order to provide safety and security to all PPLA properties, staff, visitors and patients.
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, develop and apply security strategies consistent with the identification of current risks, meeting all Agency regulatory and budgetary requirements.
  • Ensures 24-hour emergency response to all Agency staff and on-call medical teams.
  • Understands, interprets, and enforces new and/or updated local, state, federal security regulations.
  • Maintains positive working relations with internal customers and all outside agencies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, including all health center locations.
  • Acts as the main point person for all PPLA regional security issues.
  • Ensures timely reporting of security incidents to PPFA and oversees the internal security incident reporting system.
  • Develops a security strategy for all Agency events and oversees contract security personnel as needed.
  • Assesses and responds to community needs; provides consultation to the Senior Team, board committees, and coalition partners. 
  • Partners with Facilities to identify appropriate building build-outs and security engineering techniques for building security to any current or prospective spaces.
  • Responsible for security coordination for event security including demonstrations, fundraisers, and political activities.
  • Responsible for managing security services contracts and staff.
  • Oversee high profile executive personal security and work with national agent to scrub online presence.
