ABL Space Systems was founded in 2017 by veterans of SpaceX and Morgan Stanley to develop low-cost launch vehicles for the small satellite industry. More importantly, we’re building a launch system we are truly proud of – no gimmicks or over-design, just reliable, rapidly deployable launches. RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage and maintain adequate security processes and solutions to mitigate or remediate identified risks sufficiently to meet business objectives, contractual and/or regulatory requirementsEnsure proper security logs are generated and sent to the organization’s Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system Monitor, remediate, and mitigate security violations for network, devices, servers and other assets Lead incident response activities, ensuring security incidents are properly contained, eradicated, and recoveredResearch emerging technologies in support of IT security enhancement and development effortsAssist in the design, implementation, and maintenance needed for a secure environment at ABL Space SystemsSupport the development of security policies, standards and plans to ensure the protection of corporate data against unauthorized use, access, modification, and destructionPersistently evaluate adherence with defined policies and standardsEnsure ABL Space Systems security processes and solutions are protected against a failure or attack that reduces the organization’s ability to respond to security incidentsEnsure ABL Space Systems processes and solutions are maintained securely and highly available to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of assets Monitor and ensures systems revisions and patches are up to dateBuild team unity by supporting other engineers to understand security risks and impact to corporate solutionsSupport others in performing analysis and risk assessments for the entire infrastructureDevelop technical solutions to autonomously verify compliance with required technical controls
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:5+ years of relevant information security experience Technical background in IT systems and networking in Cloud environments
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Experience in information security principles, processes, technologies, and practicesExperience with both On-premises and Cloud-based security technologies with possible specific cloud-based certificationsExperience with hybrid technology environmentsTechnical certifications within the area of security are a plus, but proven ability preferred Ability to understand a variety of platforms, operating systems, and applications and understand interoperability capabilities, and constraints amongst such componentSExcellent verbal, written communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with other groupsDemonstrated knowledge in 3 or more of the following information security principles: risk assessment and management, threat and vulnerability management, incident response, and identity & access managementCertifications a plus, but proven ability preferred Familiarity with information security publications (e.g., NIST 800-53, CMMC), incident response, problem resolution, vulnerability remediation, reviewing automated security test results, and network and host-based firewalls
WHAT WE LOOK FOR:Critical thinking: ABL engineers understand the “why” behind all design decisions, operational events and test outcomes Ability to deal with ambiguity: ABL engineers must be comfortable defining their own pathway to an objective End-to end ownership: projects are delivered fully complete and ready for flight
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTS:Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time Ability to life 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations Ability to use a computer to complete assignments Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment The salary range for this role is $155,000 - $210,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

ITAR Requirement
This position requires access to information protected under US export control laws, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or the Export Administration Regulations.
