ASD's purpose is to defend Australia against global threats and advance our national interests through the provision of foreign signals intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations.
ASD achieves its mission by:
· Collecting foreign signals intelligence,
· Communicating foreign signals intelligence,
· Preventing and disrupting offshore cyber-enabled crime,
· Providing cyber security advice and assistance to Australian governments, businesses, and individuals,
· Supporting military operations,
· Building and protecting the specialised tools ASD uses to fulfil its functions, and
· Cooperating with and assisting the national security community in the performance of its functions.
To do this, ASD masters technology to:
· Deliver strategic advantage for Australia by providing intelligence that protects and advances Australia's national interests,
· Lead in cyber security, making Australia the most secure place to connect online, and foster national cyber security resilience,
· Support military operations, enabling the war fighter, and protecting Defence personnel and assets,
· Counter cyber-enabled threats, protecting Australia and Australians by countering cyber-enabled crime and disrupting terrorists' use of the internet, and
· Provide trusted advice and expertise, delivering timely, quality advice to government, law enforcement, businesses and the community.
The Australian Government recently invested $1.35 billion in ASD’s Cyber Enhanced Situational Awareness and Response (CESAR) package.
Technical Directors leverage their broad and/or deep technical knowledge to provide technical leadership across the organisation and shape the technical direction of their section or branch.
A Technical Director, leveraging the breadth of their technical knowledge, will have a proven ability to operate across a range of different technical areas bringing value to ASD’s business and usefully transferring experience from one area to the next. They will have consistently identified opportunities outside of their current role to deliver wider business benefit.
A Technical Director focused on depth will have the ability to tackle increasingly challenging problems with a focus on a specific field or area of ASD’s business. They will be building their skills and expertise to deliver business impact within a specific domain.
Successful candidates will be assigned a position in accordance with their skills, abilities and expertise. A merit pool will be created from this round to potentially fill future positions across the organisation.

Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) roles:
The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) is within the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) and leads the Australian Government’s efforts to improve cyber security. The ACSC’s role is to help make Australia the most secure place to connect online.
The ACSC provides advice and information about how to protect Australian businesses, governments and individuals online. When there is a cyber-security incident, the ACSC provides clear and timely advice to individuals, businesses and critical infrastructure.
ACSC is looking to fill several Technical Director Positions at the branch and section levels to help build and deliver the operational capability that will help defend, assist and uplift the cyber resilience of government agencies, Australian businesses, critical infrastructure and communities.

Signals and Network Operations (SNO) Group Roles:
Signal Intelligence and Network Operations Group (SNO), is responsible for ASD’s access, analysis, and offensive cyber capabilities.
SNO Technical Directors will be responsible for planning, leading, managing and delivering very complex technical outcomes across the signals intelligence mission. With a strong technical cyber focus, the ability to lead a technical workforce is an essential part of any role within SNO Group.
These positions may not have direct reports, but they do have a very large span of control across a wide domain of business activities.
Corporate and Capability (C&C) Group Roles:
Corporate and Capability (C&C) Group is responsible for ASD’s corporate ICT services and capabilities referred to as the Enterprise Horizontal which focuses on provisioning capabilities to ASD and its customers.
ASD has developed an Enterprise Technology blueprint which, at its core, focusses ICT efforts, reduces duplication, and delivers a more coherent enterprise ICT portfolio.
ICT Technical Directors in C&C Group actively seek innovative ways to add value to the organisation. They are responsible for providing leadership and direction to ensure a high-level of integration and consistency, and service delivery, across ASD’s engineering and project functions, maintaining and applying knowledge, experience and skills to meet ASD’s capability needs.
Our ideal candidate will have a considerable level of stakeholder engagement skills and proven experience in developing support procedures and strategies for systems, networks, operating systems.

Security Clearance - The preferred applicant will be required to successfully undergo the security clearance vetting process at a specified clearance level. The preferred applicant MUST be willing to disclose all relevant and required information.
