OmniOn Power is seeking a Network Security Administrator with a track record of implementing network security best practices at the enterprise level. This position is responsible for network security, troubleshooting network access, and implementing security policies and procedures at our organization. Responsibilities include recommending enhancements, identifying areas of weakness, and responding promptly to possible security breaches.
To be a successful Network Security Administrator, you should be meticulous and detail-oriented, with excellent technical and information security skills. You should be skilled at drafting and understanding security policies and be able to manage run operations to ensure safe and reliable enterprise IT network.
Essential Functions
Depending on the assignment, the incumbent may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties, and perform related duties as assigned:
- Management and administration of firewalls, including policies, access control, and intrusion detection settings.
- Administering remote access authentication and security configurations.
- Administering authentication and security policies and procedures for networking devices such as routers and switches.
- Administering wireless authentication, configuration, and access control.
- Updating networking software with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defenses are present for each network resource.
- Installing, administering, and troubleshooting network security solutions.
- Responding quickly and effectively to all security incidents and providing post-event analyses.
- Remaining up to date with the latest security systems, standards, authentication protocols, and products.
- Developing and recommending innovative security controls to protect network assets.
- The ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the business on security issues.
- Performing network vulnerability and penetration tests, identifying and defending against threats, and developing disaster recovery plans.
- Configuring network security systems, analyzing security requirements, and recommending improvements.
- Monitor system logs, SIEM tools, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity. Interpret such activity and make recommendations for resolution.
- Creating network policies and authorization roles and defending against unauthorized access, modifications, and destruction.
- Consulting with staff, managers, and executives about the best security practices and providing technical advice.
- Implement or coordinate remediation required by audits, and document exceptions, as necessary.
- Develop and maintain network security diagrams and documentation for security systems and procedures.
Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required
- Experience with multiple environments and operating systems, devices and databases including Windows, Linux, Active Directory, VMWare, Azure and AWS.
- Knowledge of a broad range of regulatory requirements, including industry standards, legislation and compliance frameworks is required; Examples include:
- International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
- International Electro-technical Commission (IEC) 27001
- IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and ISO 20000
- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cyber Security Framework
- Security+ certification
- Cisco Professional level certification (CCNP, CCDP) preferred.
- Must have and maintain one or more IT Security Assurance certification such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CIPT and/or CCSK.
- Technical proficiency with security-related systems and applications.
- Experience in developing, documenting, and maintaining security procedures.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and associated network protocols and concepts.
- Cisco certified or related certifications in networking.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and network administration/protocols.
- A strong understanding and knowledge of computer, network, and security systems.
- Good teaching, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related discipline
- Minimum 7 years of progressively increasing responsibility in the areas of information security, risk assessment, cyber-security, and network administration in a large multi-location corporation.
