The company’ Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.


 


We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Health, Safety, and Security.


 


General Description:


The Director of Health, Safety, and Security will be based at our Cameron, LA CP2 LNG location.  This position will provide leadership and strategic direction for the safety agenda within the site and drive the development and improvement of Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental processes, systems, and culture.  This position is a key member of the site leadership team providing leadership, support, and advice to the management on all HSS issues.


 


Responsibilities:



  1. Develop, implement, and manage a safety strategy that is aligned to both the Headquarters business strategy and the company safety strategy.

  2. Develop and manage the HS&S 5-year plan and align activities to achieve approved goals and milestones.

  3. Develop and steward the annual Health & Safety budget for the facility.

  4. Manage and execute site safety strategy and operational actions plans, in conjunction with the operations and line management. 

  5. In conjunction with HR and operational / line management develop the safety knowledge, skills, and behaviors of the organization through coaching, mentoring, apprenticeship, and other capability development processes.

  6. Oversee development and improvement of Health, Safety, Security and Environmental operational standards by identifying and adopting best practices.

  7. Ensure sufficient processes and resources are in place to identify and manage business risks in all safety areas.

  8. Manage compliance with the standards defined by relevant legal, regulatory, and internal and industry safety requirements.

  9. Provide support and guidance to operations and line management on incident investigations and the closure of the corrective actions identified, particularly for major incidents.

  10. Manage and lead the Site Emergency Response function and ERT members to include response and full Incident Command duties of emergency response team members into harm’s way

  11. Manage monthly performance reporting and KPI’s for executive leadership.

  12. Oversee reporting to support compliance with regulatory permits, policies, or other requirements driven by Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies.

  13. Drive the VGLNG Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) program and develop safety campaigns to drive safety culture.

  14. Manage the VGLNG HSSE Management software at the site level including, Incident Reporting, BBS, Job Safety Analysis, Permit to Work, etc.

  15. Oversee internal audits as well as audits conducted by external agencies, lenders, clients, etc.

  16. Work with the greater HSSE&T team on business initiatives for the betterment of Venture Global’s safety culture.

  17. Develop/Review Health, Safety, and Security policies and procedures as required.

  18. Manage the security of the facility to ensure all USCG, TWIC, and other regulatory requirements are maintained

  19. Oversee inspection programs for all safety related equipment to ensure its readiness for use and to maintain all regulatory requirements

  20. Implement initiatives to reduce the level of work-related accidents and/or occupational hazards


 


Qualifications:



  1. Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, CSP, CIH, or equivalent.

  2. Incident investigation certification preferred.

  3. Experience: 10 years of experience in senior management/operations positions.

  4. Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.

  1. Able to create a strong team environment which models desired safety behaviors.

  2. Effective communicator at all levels of an organization with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies.

  3. Organized and able to manage multiple projects.

  4. Must be able to multi-task and handle parallel deadlines. Must be able to prioritize company and department goals to deliver projects on time and within parameters set by the organization.

  5. Broad based policy knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory requirements



  1. Proficient Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  2. Be able to climb multiple levels of stairs within the facility.

  3. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds.

  4. Must be able to work in high heat environments while wearing all required PPE, including Flame Resistant clothing

  5. Must be available to respond to events and incidents at the facility within 2 hours of notification on a 24-hour basis

  6. Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct inspections and audits
