The Security Supervisor plans, organizes, and supervises services that ensure staff, customer and contractor safety and security; ensures compliance with security, safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.


Essential Functions
  • Plans, organizes, schedules, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned staff and contractors.
  • Provides direction to and support of security officers when dealing with situations involving customers and staff (i.e. disruptive behavior, destruction of property, customer complaints and first aid for injuries).
  • Works with local law enforcement, fire officials and other emergency responders as required; provides alarm response to security alarm situations.
  • Ensures the accurate completion of Incident Reports and follow-up as necessary; disposition all completed reports for assigned shifts.
  • Responds to and resolves inquiries, complaints and concerns; interfaces with customers on ACPL Code-of-Conduct violations.
  • Compiles information and prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports. (i.e. incidents, duty checklists, work schedules, investigations, etc.).
  • Coordinates vehicle maintenance and maintain related documentation; ensures that vehicles are in a state of operational readiness.
  • Coordinates the process for staff and volunteer identification badges; troubleshoot the badge-making process as required.
  • Assigns keys, lockers and parking tags and maintain records as required.
  • Orders security uniforms and supplies as required.
  • Performs duties of assigned staff as required.
  • Promotes and supports the overall mission of the Library by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.

  • Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED; AND four (4) years of experience in a position dealing directly with the public, to include a minimum of two (2) years in a security or related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Compensation starts at $47K per year and goes up based on previous work experience.
