The SSOC-Investigative Specialist works in a Security Surveillance Operations Center requiring 24/7 staffing. This position is required to proactively monitor, in real-time, all surveillance cameras, motion alarms and access controls, then process any unusual activity to provide an appropriate response. This position will also receive information from the field and appropriately direct notifications guided by the Standard Operating Procedures. The SSOC-Investigative Specialist must adapt, utilize experienced judgment in order to function during time-urgent situations. Further, this position will be responsible for investigating and protecting the Woodbine Entertainment Group's security and integrity with discretion and confidentiality, ensuring company, employee and guest safety and security.
Responsibilities: Proactive monitoring of surveillance cameras specifically utilizing experience to identify and assess unusual activity that puts the business, people or property at riskReport and investigate all matters affecting the integrity of Thoroughbred and Standardbred racing at all Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) facilitiesUpon identification of any unusual activity, use sound judgment to respond and report appropriately, some of which includes further monitoring, sending a response team, escalating to Management, contacting proper authorities etc.Document and conduct impartial investigations into all offences and criminal activity on WEG propertyThoroughly investigate any incidents reported, prepare accurate investigative reports and video evidence that are reliable and defensible in the event of any potential legal actionAttend court and hearing(s) and give evidence or observe and report on related matters Provide support to special events, including retention program, surveillance, operational planning and risk assessmentsDevelop/enforce security measures to be followed and oversee covert and electronic surveillanceInvestigate and report unlawful use of broadcast signalsIdentify and track crime patterns affecting WEG properties and report to Management. Inform Senior Manager of all active investigations and results of each investigation and apprise of any occurrences which may compromise or be damaging to the positive guest experience or departmental relationsInvestigate and respond to integrity issues quickly and thoroughly, ensuring appropriate action taken. Coordinate and conduct all investigations into criminal activities and contravention of AGCO and WEG rules with complete confidentialityLiaise with Municipal, Provincial and Federal Police Forces, AGCO Investigators, and Law enforcement agenciesOther related duties as assigned
Key Success Factors:Must possess a valid Ontario Private Investigator LicensePost-secondary education in a related field of law or law enforcement, security administration, investigations, surveillance, or an approved equivalent combination of education, certification/accreditation, or relevant experienceOne to two years of experience in an investigative/surveillance type role Must be able to obtain a racing AGCO licenseFirst Aid/CPR training or certificationAdvanced knowledge of investigation methodology and reporting with a good understanding of Federal, Provincial, and Municipal lawRequires general knowledge of safety regulations (OHSA, WHMIS), labour standards (ESA), and organizational policies and proceduresAdvanced knowledge of surveillance methodology, including how to identify unusual activity and how to respond appropriatelyFlexibility to work evenings, weekends and night shiftsValid G Drivers License is required as well as a safe driving recordGuided by our Values and Beliefs, Woodbine Entertainment commits to providing an authentic and empowering work experience!
