Our team focuses on threat investigations and is a community of cyber security professionals passionate about protecting users from criminal and advanced cyber threats. We ensure our users are kept safe from scams, account hijacking and other cyber crime.

A Lot About You
You are a dynamic, experienced full stack developer who pursues serious problems at Yahoo scale. Your social and communication skills will help insure that partners across the company are represented and their issues are addressed and investigated by the Advanced Threats team. You can adeptly handle multiple technically-demanding cases while achieving results. You are a proven collaborator with others in industry and academia.


Responsibilities

  • Your Day
  • Identify sources of targeted attack data within Yahoo platforms and integrate them with other ACTT tools.
  • Integrate with other Advanced Threats Developers to create and maintain internal tracking and knowledge management systems.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Paranoids to design, develop, code and test software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products; revise and refine as required.
  • Participate in development of project timelines, implementation design specifications, system flow diagrams, documentation, testing and ongoing support of systems.
  • Engage with internal teams - such as Legal, Mail, PR, Customer Care, the Paranoids, and others - to develop solutions to address any targeted threat issues encountered on Yahoo properties.
  • Distill simplicity out of complex requirements and workflows to build highly-usable, secure and maintainable applications.
  • Develop/employ creative techniques to optimize solutions to problems and promote a safe and enjoyable experience across Yahoo platforms.
  • Leverage internal and external tools in order to query large data sets to identify anomalous activity to minimize damage and protect users.
  • What You Bring:
  • Have a passion for protecting users and making the Internet a safer place for everyone.
  • Possess advanced development experience in Python; experience with C, PHP, Go (Golang), or related languages a plus.
  • Have experience developing user interfaces using HTML, JavaScript (jQuery), AJAX and CSS.
  • Have experience developing with Flask, Django, or Node.js using Test Driven Development (TDD).
  • Have familiarity with database-style data storage and retrieval mechanisms, such as MySQL or Oracle, and with big-data solutions such as Splunk, Hadoop, Pig, Hive, Mapreduce, and Oozie.
  • Possess excellent written communication skills and the shown ability to understand and present complex data to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Have a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; higher degrees are a plus.
  • Are eligible for a U.S. government security clearance.
  • Familiarity with the current nation-state (“APT”) threat landscape and the various actors and groups, and/or experience in malware analysis and/or reverse engineering, are helpful pluses.
