Who you are
You are an experienced reverse engineer looking to join a team of cybersecurity and malware experts, the best in their field with years of experience and advanced knowledge, to work to fight cybercriminals and protect Watchguard customers from cyberattacks and malware.  
You have advanced malware analysis skills and years of experience in reverse engineering binaries using tools such as IDA Pro or Ollydbg, to be able to analyze difficult and critical malicious files. You also have knowledge of different programming languages such as C, C++, Python and have experience using Windows apis, both at user space and kernel space level.
You like to track cyber attacks and the threat actor behind them and want to do vulnerability analysis, exploitation techniques used during a real attack.

The Opportunity
Wathguard offers you to participate in the most interesting technology projects and ongoing challenges with direct access to the best reverse engineers in the business, while maintaining an excellent working environment both inside and outside the team.
You will be involved in daily threat analysis, studying the attack methods of new malware, gathering the intelligence needed to understand the attack and how to protect our customers from it.  You will also perform assessment and analysis of new critical vulnerabilities, evaluating whether they are already covered by our layered protection model.
After these analysis phases you will have to develop new technologies to protect our customers based on the studies performed. You will also define new malware identification rules and technologies to improve automatic classification systems based on machine learning and improve customer protection against cyber-attacks both on the endpoint and in the cloud.
Finally, you will create technical reports on malware for distribution to technical audiences, as well as participate in continuous learning and continuous improvement of technical expertise in the area.

A Day in the Life
As part of the Critical Malware team inside the Labs will work reversing latest dangerous malware, investigating new attack vectors and techniques used by cyber-criminal organizations and cyber actors, will create detections, develop protection technologies and will perform studies.
Will work as part of a specialized team of malware reversing experts. As part of the team will perform analysis by reverse engineering of the latest and most critical malware that arrives to the Lab. Will Investigate new attack trends and techniques used by cybercriminals. Will Investigate vulnerabilities and their exploitation. Will define new routines to identify and eradicate malware for the detection and disinfection engine. Will create technical reports on this new critical malware for distribution to technical audiences. Will perform studies of malware and protection related topics.

30/60/90 Plan
  • At 30 days – This is a training period. Will be trained in the tools, systems, methods and the way the team works in the Lab. Will be involved in the daily tasks of the team.
  • At 60 days – Training continues. Will start helping team members with their assignments. Depending on expertise and skill will start working on own studies.
  • At 90 days –Will start working in its own projects based on prioritized needs. Will perform analysis of advanced malware, new attack vectors, new vulnerabilities, protection improvements, detection, routines, development of new protection technologies for the products.
