The Role

The Data Scientist is responsible for analyzing a large and disparate set of real-world data to determine what types of email-based attacks our customers are seeing, how effective our defenses are, and how our customers are being impacted.

Your day-to-day

As a Data Scientist, you will work with threat analysts, developers and product marketing to prepare weekly targeted reports for premium customers, prototypes of reports that may be of interest to customers, responses to requests for ad-hoc queries against fast-changing threat data, and yearly reports about the threat landscape that go to all of our corporate customers.

There’s a wide variety of data sources and tools available, so you’ll be spinning up set of Hive jobs one week to measure the efficacy of one of our products for a quick summary for our threat research team. The next week, you will be working with product marketing to show the results of data mining against metadata stored in Cassandra and describe how threats have evolved over the last several months in ways that are of interest to our customers.

previous experience with an languages and toolsl such as R, Matlab or SAS for machine learning modeling

previous experience working with a development team to put results from exploratory data analysis into production code

previous experience presenting conclusions about exploratory data analysis to senior management/executives
