We are building out a next-generation Tech Security team that is focused on creating scalable solutions for a rapidly growing organization. As a manager, you will have an enormous opportunity to hire a team of top-notch security engineers and drive down systemic and tactical security risks while innovating to scale our detection/prevention mechanisms to keep up with the rapid pace of innovation. You will keep customers' data safe by identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities/risks by providing actionable guidance to engineers, IT, and product teams. You will help your team members realize their true potential through coaching and feedback and lead with empathy. You will drive long-term security improvements by driving your team to identify critical gaps and partner with tech teams to drive security improvements at scale. You're well-known for your excellent prioritization skills as well as your ability to communicate at all levels of an organization. You will be exposed to the latest technology and data-driven culture, surrounded by a friendly, helpful team.

This role of Security Engineering Manager is 100% remote with monthly strategic meetings and offsites, rotating between NY/Chicago/LA depending on weather and seasonality, requiring 10-20% travel (2-4 days a month). This role reports to the SVP, Engineering of RealSure.

You will

• Collaborate across the organization and form strong partnerships with the agent, customer experience, DevOps, data, IT, risk, and operations teams


• Recruiting, coaching, and scaling a team of world-class security engineers, providing strategic and tactical oversight to the team and the program.


• Be the voice of Tech for the Security business unit, reporting directly to the SVP, Engineering of RealSure


• Maintain stability and security of our customer products while allowing room for growth, invention, and learning


• Work closely with your counterparts in Product, Risk, Operations, and Leadership to develop a services security roadmap and ensure that objectives are focused on areas of critical concerns for internal and external RealSure customers, and then provide technical oversight for all phases of the software security lifecycle


• Research Industry trends and continue to test and learn and capitalize on opportunities

What you bring

• 5+ years of industry experience with a proven track record of hands-on Secure software development experience


• 5+ years of experience working with technical teams and technologies like Ruby, Elixir, iOS, and Android, distributed systems design, Event-first design principles, databases, and Git workflows


• 5+ years of experience excelling in a highly matrixed environment with the ability to work across multiple partners successfully


• Ability and experience with recruiting, motivating, coaching, & leading very high-performing technical talent


• Deep foundational understanding of the principles of agile development, software engineering, and product development


• Motivated by solving new problems, continuously seeks innovation, and is proactive about making large pivots to serve the customers' needs


• Must be able to operate well under ambiguity, have a desire to grow, and respond well to feedback


• Ability to influence at all levels and a highly empathetic & strong listener to both customer needs & stakeholder concerns


• Excellent oral and written communication and a high degree of confidence in executive-level presentation skills required


• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
