We're looking for a dynamic, creative and collaborative lead instructor with experience and expertise in post-secondary education and administration. This is a blended position consisting of both administrative and instructional responsibilities. This individual is responsible for the leadership of all instruction, curriculum, instructor scheduling and academic operations at the SecureSet Academy Washington, DC (Northern Virginia) Campus. We are seeking an experienced professional who is a team player, loves working in a collaborative environment, is passionate about the future of cybersecurity, and is hungry to grow our premier education experience. Although a strong technical background is preferred, passion for developing the technology/security ecosystem in the Washington, DC Metro Area, the ability to motivate and lead teams, and the subject matter expertise to provide quality instruction for select courses in the SecureSet Academy portfolio will take precedence.

Responsibilities

· Ensure successful completion of Academy instruction (directly or indirectly).

· Facilitate a great student experience in the classroom.

· Oversee and ensure availability of instructors for community classes provided by SecureSet Academy (Hacking 101, Capture the Flag Competitions, etc.).

· Partner with the Campus Director in the leadership and operation of the Washington, DC (Northern Virginia) campus.

· As part of the master teaching schedule, responsible for spending a significant amount of time in the classroom providing instruction for modules that fall within your area of expertise in the cybersecurity domain.

· Actively support Academy Leadership Team with strategic growth initiatives.

· Actively drive curriculum refinement and development in concert with master teaching schedule creation; provide feedback to Vice President of Education on necessary curriculum modifications or shortcomings.

· Mentor students to ensure 90% retention rate.

· Ensure availability and supervision of lab time for all students.

· Review instructor performance and provide input on retention or professional development.

· Actively participate in instructor searches and hiring decisions.

· Ensure instructor compliance with curriculum requirements.

About You

· You are a leader and influencer in the local Cybersecurity community and have a passion for seeing this community grow into a collaborative and innovative ecosystem.

· You see all that the Washington, DC metro area has to offer and know what you can do to keep us on the map as the vibrant, creative, entrepreneurial technology/Cybersecurity destination.

· You have a desire for helping those that demonstrate passion and ambition find the right path and are often referred to as a leader, coach, and mentor by those who know you well.

· You enjoy building and creating new things and thrive in a hands-on, practical learning environment.

Experience & Compensation

· 5 - 10 years' experience in the security industry (public or private sector).

· Post-graduate education highly desired.

· Passionate and demonstrated success in development of students at the post-secondary education level and leadership of a cadre of instructors.

· Applied experience and personal interest in developing pedagogical methods in cybersecurity.

· Subject matter expertise and availability to provide instruction in some of the following domains: Network Security, Systems Security, Applied Cryptography, Security Culture, Strategy & Analysis, Threat Intelligence, Hunt Skills, Detection & Logs, or Governance, Risk & Compliance.

· If instructional expertise is directly related to a technical domain, industry certifications are preferred and will be considered in lieu of formal education.

Reporting & Team Structure

· This position reports to the Campus Director of SecureSet Academy - DC. (Northern Virginia).

· All instructors and Lab Technician report to the Lead Instructor

· This position will collaborate on a daily basis with the entire Washington, DC (Northern Virginia) campus instructional team.

· This position will collaborate weekly with the Lead Instructors for all SecureSet Academy campuses.

· This position will coordinate as needed with the SecureSet Vice President of Education.
