Listing Description

The Engineering Velocity & Enablement team is a growing team of engineers providing tooling, optimised workflows, critical data and deployment expertise. This enables our engineering teams and partners to build, interact with, and deploy the Improbable Defence platform in a secure, efficient and effective manner. The platform enables the use of massive-scale simulations to assist operational support and decision making and training in the defence and governmental arenas. 

We aim to modernise the current outdated, slow and expensive approaches by blending tactical Human-in-the-loop simulation with predictive simulations using probabilistic models. Utilising a mixture of cloud and bare-metal compute, our technology acts as a coordination point between existing infrastructure, simulations and decision-makers.

Areas of Impact
  • This role will see you working with engineers (both internal and at partner organisations) to improve their workflow through tools, services and automation
  • You will maintain infrastructure as code to support our engineering teams
  • This will require you to collaborate with the platform, customer and partner teams on the deployment, release and operation processes of the platform in internal and customer environments
  • Championing and developing engineering best practices 
  • Constantly working with our customers to deploy onto their environments and ensure that our software remains stable and healthy once deployed through the provision of tooling
  • Reviewing Platform Architecture with an eye toward reliability, stability, scalability, security, redundancy and deployability across all target environments.

    • We'd like to hear from you if you identify with the following:
  • Experience working with systems running on Unix/Linux
  • Solid debugging and triaging skills in order to investigate issues and escalate with the appropriate teams 
  • Familiarity with common OSS cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker and Terraform
  • Comfortable using configuration management tooling (e.g Ansible) in order to set up infrastructure and manage changes
  • Solid experience with developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Buildkite, Teamcity, Jenkins) to facilitate automation of the SDLC
  • Previous experience in running systems on cloud infrastructures such as GCP, AWS or Azure
  • Worked in a production PaaS environment
  • You have supported build systems (Bazel, Gradle etc)
  • Deep understanding of modern infrastructure tooling and best practices surrounding deployment and running production systems in a secure and tested manner.
