Mandiant is building a crisis communications practice to help our clients better manage risk across all aspects of a cybersecurity incident. If you have real-world experience managing crisis communications situations, we want to hear from you. This individual will be a founding member of the Mandiant crisis communications team practice and contribute to the strategic growth of the practice.
The role will initially focus on reactive incident response and quickly expand as the practice grows to offer comprehensive proactive and reactive cyber crisis communications services for customers worldwide. The successful candidate is a skilled communications professional with experience managing crisis situations, ideally guiding the most senior level executives to resolution through untenable situations with no “good” outcomes. Experience with cybersecurity crisis situations and client facing roles are strongly preferred.
What You Will Do:
- Provide reactive crisis communications support for Mandiant clients responding to a cybersecurity incident, walking alongside technical teams to help evaluate risk as incidents unfold and help clients manage all communications activities across their internal and external audiences.
- Provide ongoing strategic council to help clients improve their communications response in the event of a cyber incident.
- Lead clients through the development of proactive cyber crisis communications plans using established best practices customized for individual organizations.
- Develop and execute tabletop exercises, both specifically focused on communications process as well as part of an organization-wide incident response tabletops.
- Develop crisis communications playbooks for clients.
- Write and edit a variety of communications materials such as holding statement, blog posts, press releases, employee communications and media statements.
- Support communication activities across a variety of clients simultaneously
- Demonstrate an aptitude for managing a diverse set of individuals to a common outcome.
- Create client-ready deliverables in a timely and efficient manner.
- Counsel clients on communications best practices and industry developments.
- Develop project budgets and support billing procedures to ensure timely and accurate delivery of client invoices.
- Support the development, production and marketing of thought leadership surrounding emerging trends and issues.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- 10+ years of professional communications experience, with 3-5 focused on crisis communications
- Experience providing communications council to the most senior executives in an organization, with comfort aligning when required
- Knowledge of the cybersecurity landscape is preferred, an interest and aptitude in learning about cybersecurity is required
- Comfort analyzing and distilling complex information to a variety of audiences
- Strong organizational and multitasking ability, problem-solving skills, and consistent attention to detail
- A calm disposition throughout high pressure situations
- A sense of urgency and willingness to jump into internal and client projects
- Ability/willingness to travel up to 30% annual
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with clients is preferred
- Experience working on high-profile, high-visibility incidents with national or international attention is preferred

Minimum Salary: 190,000.00. Final salary will be determined commensurately with cost of living, experience level, and/or any other legally permissible considerations. Incentive Compensation: Eligibility for annual bonus subject to individual and company performance; eligibility for award of Restricted Stock Units subject to eligibility requirements, approval from Mandiant’s Compensation Committee, and vesting terms.
